  • Game controlled alright. Not clear instructions to avoid light make it harder for newer players to understand. no idea how the far or where the potion will throw made me lose my first potion and have to restart. reticle would help.

Dark Poison is a third-person stealth puzzle game made by Shadowbolt Studios.

The game is about not getting spotted, collecting a potion and then deciding where to use the potion to reach the goal.

The player must strategically choose where to use the potions to complete the levels.

We joined the Game Jam very late and were only able to implement SOME of these mechanics.

Extra Notes
Mechanics not yet added:

- Ingredients must be collected before being able to make potions
- Light and dark contributes to whether you can be spotted or not
- Potions evaporate over time so must be used quickly once mixed
- Smoke potion that allows player to block sight of enemies
- Cat eye potion allows seeing in the dark
- Lots more levels planned that build on initial mechanics

Camera control was a bit hard to handle.
I had some scaling issues, but still managed to play the game.
Once you get that you must avoid light, it gets easier.
Good job.

Thanks for the feedback Willetaif. You're right - we plan to fix the text and improve the difficulty in our next release (aiming for tomorrow).

That music slaps lol!

Fun short game that I would have liked to see expanded more. Didn't realize that the camera moved with left click for my first attempt and was a bit confused. At some point, I figured out that it's important to stand on the side of the hallway that he will appear from, otherwise he will spot you from really far away!

Does the lighting matter at all? Like if I stand in torch light does it matter. It made me giggle every time the guy found me.

Fun little game.

Thanks for playing MysterySeed, glad you liked the music ;)

I don't know how the guy keeps spotting me. Decent visuals and the idea is there. I think it just needs a bit more time to cook and refine. Otherwise good job especially with the 1 second before deadline. Keep it up guys!

Thanks for your feedback, Jamtonyx.

We programmed the enemy to have BIONIC eyes and unfortunately made them a bit strong! Will definitely tone it down in a future release. We were thinking about making his torchlight his viewing range as well so the player has a visual indicator.

If anyone reading this would like to play test in future feel free to sign up at shadowboltstudios.com and we’ll email you with any updates. :)
