SPACE MAYHEM 9000!!!'s itch.io pageJudge feedback

- Game design document very basic. Covers the bare bones of the game's construction but doesn't expand into talking about inspiration, theme, or any future goals. The game itself is quite fast paced, but using the mouse to control the player's movement ensures you don't feel slow compared to the enemies. That being said, it does feel like there is too much happening on screen. There isn't any kind of in-game intro or tutorial so you just drop straight into the action. Which is a fine way to start a game, however so much is happening on screen at any given moment it took a couple runs just to feel like I understood what was going on, let alone what I needed to do. It's nice that the PC auto-attacks so you don't have to exhaust a clicking finger or thumb mashing a button. Good to see a variety of enemy types, UFOs and cows were great choices, though how to destroy them wasn't always obvious. Some enemies would die and disappear, others seemed to just absorb all bullets. Very likely it was user error, but there's no feedback on screen to help adjust my behavior as a player. The powerups have a variety of cool effects, but it would be nice to have those listed out somewhere so I knew which ones did what. Overall, a great basis to work with!

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
This game was built entirely on my small phone, with limited hardware and a tiny GPU. No high-end PC, no powerful graphics card—just pure creativity and determination. Despite these challenges, I managed to implement smooth gameplay, a dynamic particle system, and real-time sound effects using only HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
This isn’t just a game; it’s proof that passion and innovation can overcome any limitation.
