  • GDD: GDD seems good. Good with the images in game mechanics section. Perhaps showcase more art in art section. Like the card and the thought behind the design. If I had to nitpick; add an development timeline would showcase transparency of the game's state and progress. It gives so much value to the GDD. Game: The intro to main menu feels good. Nice. Nice to see settings, but think it could be improved with accessibilties settings and perhaps some gameplay settings. Card glossary is godsend for those who want to learn the cards, but I would rather use grid based than a list for this UI. Think of like pokemon cards binders! A minor detail, but rather called it quit button (for example when I am in card glossary page), perhaps call it back button or return to main menu button. Another minor detail but I like the animated hover effect on the cards in main menu and the scene transitions. The story goes too fast for the average player to follow along. Perhaps slow down or give the player the choice to go to next step of the story. I think it is a good idea that the player can pick a deck that suited their playstyle by buying different cards, but this need to communicated to the player beforehands. The game need a tutorial in order to understand the card system. Perhaps also update some more UI that communicated properly to the player, so it is easier to understand the game. Think of slay the spire or balatro as examples. The reason they are doing so well are because their UI are very much communicated to the average player. In the core of these card games, the better communicated the game is, the easier it is for "the blind player" to actually understood of the game. Dont worry about the game is not in perfect state, but do keep in mind this review is focused on the few game mechanics and game design aspect of the game. Bug: * sometimes during card "combat" phase, I keep seeing dead cards that respawned in my hand and disappeared after awhile. Kinda like zombie cards.

So I really liked the art and aesthetic of the game. Personally I feel like there was a little bit too much RNG. Honestly I feel the RNG should be removed from the shop aspect of the game and only apply to combat. I also would take some time post jam to update the UI to make it more clear what suits affect what aspects of the opposing cards during combat. This could be achieved by adding a delay between the attack and the damage applying. This will give you time to highlight the change happening. Great job doing a card game in such a short time frame!

I am not really sure how to play.

But the art was great, I like the amount of dithering used

Thank you! We'll definetly make a tutorial in the final release 😅

Nice artwork and storytelling, the card are creatures are awesome! I really appreciate a good card game and this has some real potential!
Cards having all four suits is something I've never seen before and was an interesting take. Thanks for fixing the access.

Thank you for your kind comment! We were really bummed out by the fact that we weren't able to make the game really playable because of some game breaking bugs that emerged in the last 24 hours of the jam, but we still wanted to show this game to the world because of the effort that we put in it. In the coming weeks we'll try to fix the game up so that it could be playable the way that we intended.

I'll be sure to try out your game asap ❤️
