- I absolutely love rhythm games and thoroughly enjoyed your idea! The art style is incredible! Pretty cool that you did it all by hand. I also enjoyed the sound effects like when you missed a key or hit the wrong key. OUCH! I did find it difficult trying to see what was going on with Mr. Splat or if I was early/late while focusing on which keys I needed to hit next. Might be worth moving the feedback (early/late) to the green circle so the player sees it a little easier? It also seemed like the keys weren't quite on beat with the music which can throw the whole rhythm portion off a little. Very enjoyable game overall. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more progress made!

Summarise your game!
You play as Mr. Splat the rhythmic monster that seeks to destroy Neon City in this side scrolling hand drawn rhythm game.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In Mr. Splat (the main character) is literally throwing himself at Neon City. Thus making him the weapon to destroy Neon City through the use of his physical form.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We would like feedback on art style, music, and potential growth as well as any flaws that you see in the design.

I had fun with Mr. Splat! The artwork is definitely a neat departure from what I'm used to seeing in game jams. It's very unique and suits the weird vibe you put together. For a rhythm game, I think I would've really liked to see the complexity of how notes appeared steadily increase over time. The music was solid, but its relationship to the notes on-screen felt a bit flat. The world needs more rhythm games though, so please keep it up!
Nice Score! :) I'm definitely happy to hear you had fun with the game and that you enjoyed the art and music. I will definitely look into working on the notes to make them work more with the music. Thank you for your feedback!
It's very rare to see rhythm games in jams, so this alone will get me very excited for your game. The art style is also one of a kind, which I enjoy very much! As a rhythm game player I find this game a bit on the easy side, but I guess too harsh will alienate a lot of players, so that's fine. I'd say it would be better if the beat aligned more tightly with the music would make the game much more enjoyable though. The background behind the notes also jumped a bit when it started to loop, and that threw me off somehow.
Anyway, I like this game a lot, well done!
Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game and the art style so much. The goal for this game in regard to difficulty was to make it just difficult enough for entry level rhythm players. I'll take a look at trying to align the music more tightly to the rhythm inputs. I hope you have a fantastic day!
59150!
Game is a cool vibe. I think as far as rhythm games go it's pretty simple, but doing this in two weeks is awesome! So hard to do especially on web because of the issues with desync between the music and actual inputs. The art is sooo good! I love that every time you ate a monster you morphed and grew bigger. Music and sound fx are all satisfying. I could see the rhythm element becoming more complex as you go along.
Groovy entry!
Thank you for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the game, music, and sfx!
I missed a lot of beats (I'm not good at rhythm games 🤣) but I think I got to the end with 40k points. The color palette is really bright and gets your attention right away. I like that the monster kept evolving bigger as you progressed through the game. I think the spacing between beats was really nice for a jam game, so it wasn't too difficult for me, but I think putting some notes closer together would definitely add to the difficulty. I think perhaps different stages with more variety in music would enhance the experience also. But overall, this is an incredible base for a rhythm game that you've made in two weeks!! Awesome job
Thank you for the feedback!! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game. :)
