Nice game! It's oddly relaxing and I think it's an interested mashup of genres. Well done!

Pinball Todd's itch.io pageJudge feedback

- Pinball Todd is a very cozy feeling experience with a solid two-stage loop for each level of play. The pinball machine works as expected, although it didn't appear possible to access the 'Ultimate' combo without subsequent playthroughs. Otherwise, perhaps the physics need some tweaking? Both the music and machine noises complemented the game well for both game loops. Game Loop B was very interesting, and the difficulty of marble combat was pleasing. I found myself a little confused about the effect of the health pickup, or how the attack order was decided during Game Loop B. Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Summarise your game!
Pinball Todd is a rogue-lite arcade game focused on charging your special golem to slay enemies to gain money and loot, to save Pinball Town. Gain points by hitting bumpers and going into different areas in the play area of the pinball machine. In the combat area, fight slimes to protect the peaceful Pinball town. Gain equipment and upgrades to get stronger to see what the farthest room is that you can reach. By unlocking 'Hard Mode', the player can earn even greater rewards a the risk of even stronger monsters. Controls are simple to ensure easy and comfortable playability for all age ranges and level of gamers. The games mechanics are centered around playing pinball, hold-and-release combat, and gaining strength through equipment and upgrades.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
I knew that I wanted to go with having the player be the source of damage as the theme is 'You are the weapon'. Early ideas included a hack-and-slash and 2D platformers. I then considered pinball and a few ideas later, and through a lot of testing and work, ended at the general idea for 'Pinball Todd'. Todd is able to operate an ancient golem that were used to kill the slimes in a previous war. Upon threat again, Pinball Town seeks the aid of Todd to charge the golem, and use himself as a 'weapon' to roll into enemies and keep Pinball Town safe and peaceful.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
As I am the sole-creator of the game, I am quite proud of every aspect of the game. Voice acting, using softer colors for sprite work, and having a strict development deadline were all new challenges for me that were incredibly fun (and sometimes troublesome) and taught me quite a lot. Thank you all for this opportunity and please enjoy.
