  • Crashout Kyle was very funny, and captured a similar style to happy wheels quite well. I felt like I had next to no control over Kyle, and found myself rooting for him from the beginning. Boss fights felt tricky, because I couldn't figure out the trick to hitting the boss without getting hit myself. Kyle's attack movements were very QWOP-y, but it didn't come off as frustrating because I only had one input, and if that one input didn't work I could always just flail Kyle a little harder and hope! I found the art style and scenery worked well together, as well as the current musical score and sound effects to be fun / funny. More levels, and ways to upgrade Kyle in between each level might be interesting. Maybe some enemies from the level should be able to be picked up, in order to allow the player to choose new weapons constantly as they progress. Thank you very much for this submission to Pirate Software Game Jam 16.

Summarise your game!
Kyle stands over the unconscious ​body of his evil coworker, seething with rage. Into his head, pops a thought. He points at his coworker, and at the top of his lungs screams, YOU ARE THE WEAPON NOW!!!!

Play as Kyle and rage through his office in this physics based beat-em-up platformer. Run through the halls and find all three bosses, and see how high of a score you can get!

Controls:

A,D - move

Space - jump

LMB - attack

RMB - equip enemy

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
“You are the weapon.” - A declaration by Kyle as he proceeds to in fact use his coworker’s bodies as weapons. So, fight your boss and pick them up to fight everyone else with! They are your weapon, but YOU are the real weapon.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?

Really floaty. Good art and character design. i wish it had an end screen after you beat the manager. Although the expressions on the characters really threw me off, cuz it's supposed to be 'crash out kyle', but Kyle really looks like he's just happy to be there.  Still, nice work!

The art and music are both very charming. And I was giggling as I played! 

However, I felt confused as to how to actually effectively deal damage. Eventually though, I figured out how to really get my hands going and I started having fun :D

The overall concept and art style really adds a fun charm into it, the gameplay was a little rought to grasp at first but it was overwall an enjoyable experience!

I loved the idea! Had a great laugh after the first boss—I definitely wasn’t expecting that.

I’d suggest adding a brief tutorial and some extra polish, but overall, I really enjoyed the concept. Great job!

A cool feature you could add later is allowing the player to use the weapon's ability after obtaining it.

Overall, very well done!

This is so funny haha! I love the art style and the animation was cracking me up. Felt bad for Tim in accounting for getting bashed on the head with a person and their weapon. Thanks for making this!

The idea and arts reminds me of old flash games, really like it! I do however seem to fly of the screen a lot, might be that I'm messing up but it feels like the right click causes me to fly

Yeah there seems to be a bug with holding down equip after equipping an enemy, I'm adding it to the list of things to fix after the jam ends :)
