How does your entry fit the theme?
Our adherence to the theme is twofold: first, "Echoes" as in ecolocalization used by whales, which are the subject of study by the protagonist and his crew. Secondly, "Echoes" as in echoes of the past, as he has to come to terms with them while finishing a mission in which he blindly believed.

What would you like feedback on?
Any constructive criticism is more than welcome, even more so since this is our first game jam and game in general ever!

What assets did you use (if any)?
All the art, design, narrative and code was done by us. Sounds were taken from freesound.org

That was such an experience! Quite short but immersive, the story was nice, and it kinda felt like actually working on a boat. And well done for such a short period of time, that seems to be so much work!

Firstly I like your assets this is a realy nice grapichs. When i saw your screenshots first time i thought that this is a cool idea for game in single room.

There is a known idea to make a game in single room. This is a good exercise to invent game mechanics. So my first expectations were that in this game you have to interact with devices to gain reach some objectives. Those objectives can be different based on external factor (The Sea). For me this is a cool idea for single room concept.

But this game is story oriented not a gamplay. This is not bad but my expectation was ruined.

What about the game. This is a good implementation of your idea. I didn't meet any difficulties with completing the game. And the strory is really connected with Echo theme.

Thank you for the comment, the gameplay design is definitely one of our weaknesses. Mmmh, maybe we can bring a friend or two next time...

I enjoyed this one a lot!

Story is absolutely one of my favorite aspects of a game so it's nice to see a strong coherent story created in a game jam as short as this one. If I were to offer areas of improvement I definitely agree with the other comments in this thread in the fact that I found it quite difficult to interact with certain objects at times and the task with turning the knobs was a bit confusing.

But overall it was a lovely experience, I absolutely loved the visuals!

Hey, thanks a lot for the kind words. I played your game too and I liked it a lot as well! We'll improved the interactions and clarity of gameplay next time :P

When you extract the game, the files scatter everywhere, it would be better for the files to be inside of a folder.

This is a short and fun 3d game, the graphics are really good and the mini games are interesting, i liked the story and i didn't see any bugs, my only minor nitpick would be to add a pause menu so you can quit the game without having to alt+f4.

Developer(+1)

Hello, glad you enjoyed the game, sorry about it not having a pause, we were in a hurry to finish everything and couldn't add it. Thank you for the tip on the files in the folder ;)

It's pretty hard to interact with all thecrank handle but the narration is really well done !

Developer

Hey, thanks for the comment. Yeah we saw that but didn't have time to improve it because there was an easy workaround: keep the left mouse button clicked while aiming for the center of the crank and it won't lose focus!

I'm particularly pleased to hear the narration is well done, it was our very first attempt and we aren't writers in the slightest!

This is really impressive for a first game jam! The art is really nice, the tasks are satisfying, and the bite-sized story has a satisfying conclusion. The second task was somewhat difficult to parse what each knob did, but I still enjoyed it.

Developer

Thank you! Ah, if only you knew what happened with the second minigame

I must say, this game was an absolute delight! Firstly, I loved the simplicity of the story. It provided a glimpse into the life/past of our protagonist while maintaining an intriguing air of mystery. The inclusion of little side games added to the overall charm of the experience. Moreover, I was truly impressed by the stunning art and models in the game. Creating a 3D game of this caliber in such a short time is truly incredible!

If I were to offer some constructive criticism, the second game was a bit frustrating. It lacked some leniency with the images, making it difficult to achieve clarity. There were instances when I thought I had it perfectly right, only to realize it wasn't sufficient. :( It took me quite some time to complete that particular section, which slightly impacted my overall enjoyment of the game!

Nevertheless, despite the minor setback caused by the second game/part, I still thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was impressive and pleasantly engaging. amazing work!

Thank you so much for your kind comment. Yes, we knew the second minigame would not come out like wanted it to but there wasn't enough time to fix the core design so we simply fixed the bugs and that was it. I'm happy that didn't prevent you from enjoying the story, which was the true focus of the experience.
