The core of the game is good, tutorial was basic but taught you everything you had to know. After playing a couple rounds, I have one main feedback:
- Echolocalization should be give different feedbacks based on what it hits. Maybe enemies = red dots, platforms = blue dots. This was the main reason the player can't avoid enemies, because they think it's a platform an in a split second you're dead;
A plus would have been a walking animation for the bat when sliding on a surface. Would've been hilarious!
This game has a fantastic tutorial, it was very well thought out and explains all the game mechanics in exactly the forgiving way a tutorial should. I would say with the gameplay though, its quite hard to detect enemies, the echolocation makes finding platforms easy since they are big and multiple of the circular sprites will stop on them, but the enemies will get hit with one circle at most which even if they do get hit it will go undetected. A potential solution to this could be when the circle hits the enemy it should turn red, so that it would catch the player's eye better.
Had fun. I feel like it reaction time necessary for the hawks is a bit high (aka they appear too fast) given how often you can echolocate. Echolocation was well done but a bit enemies were a bit difficult to dodge while also managing to stay afloat, hit space for echolocation and watch out for floating blocks. Cool concept though.
My high score is 5346, i think the echolocation should be buffed, if one of those balls touches a predator the entire enemy should be revealed, also remove the light circle so the bat is entirely blind, and add some traps too. Good job on the game.
The music is a bit annoying but this is a nice game ! The movement is a bit janky and hard to control but the controls scheme is interesting ! (though I don't understand the purpose of hanging on the ceiling in an endless scroller). The echolocation mechanic is a good idea but it feels a bit weird to play. You have to spam it to see something and even then the enemies are barely noticeable.
I love the tutorial though, you did a fantastic job on that !
I liked it! It's a really unique endless runner that fits the theme well. I like how it feels like every enemy has a purpose: the snake prevents you from cheesing the game by hugging the ground, the hawk keeps you on your toes, and the owl makes sure you don't blaze forward without being cautious.
I think it would have been nice if the echo dots were colored differently if they hit a predator. I had a hard time figuring out if an owl was ahead of me or if it was a wall, with owls being the thing that ended all of my runs. Regardless, great game!
