Holy moly, this is hands down an underrated entry and easily one of the best ones in the competition! Everything about it is near perfection!! The theme is incorporated amazingly well, and the unique concept and mechanics are both intriguing and captivating. I absolutely love how the music gradually fades after each bounce, creating an immersive atmosphere. ^^
The art style is really nice too, although I did notice that some assets clash a bit due to the lack of defined outlines. However, that's more of a nitpick and doesn't significantly affect the overall experience.
If I were to be picky, I would mention that controlling the note could be a bit challenging at times, especially when trying to hit the old grandpa or the better cafe people due to the limited space of the hole. I would recommend either slightly increasing the size of the hole to strike a balance between challenge and frustration or adjusting the movement of the note to make it slightly easier to control. That being said, considering this is your first game, it's still amazing! I see immense potential in your work.
Please consider expanding this into a bigger project! I would wholeheartedly pay for a full version with a story and everything because this game is a splendid and wholesome experience. Amazing work! :D
When you extract the game, the files scatter everywhere, it would be better for the files to be inside of a folder.
I did 5 strums and 93 echoes, i guess this is the best use of the jam's theme, it's very human and kind, i like it.
This has to be my favorite entry so far. The concept itself is so original and poetic and the whole atmosphere is so peaceful I love it ! The art is good, the music awesome and the gameplay in itself is very intuitive and even pretty fun ! The physics of the melody is a bit hard to control and I did get stuck at some point but for a first unity game, this is really awesome !
Just for the next jam, be careful for a few things about your game page. The name of the downloadable files should match the title of your game and you should tell itch.io that your build is a Windows one. And try making a WebGL export, it'll easily triple the numbers of ratings you'll get!
Thank you so much! And I really appreciate the tip about making a WebGL export
Really nice concept! Glad I could gather everyone to hear me play :)
Oh man, I really liked this one! Gameplay-wise, it was incredibly satisfying timing the jumps in such a way that I would graze the person I want to hit without touching the ceiling/floor near them, so that I could preserve my note for as long as possible and get more people during the strum.
My first attempt was 3 strums 56 echoes. Knowing the mechanics and general placements of the people, I tried again for a better score, and got 2 strums 33 echoes :)
The only feedback I have is general QoL stuff, like a main menu, the ability to pause/quit the game, and maybe a slider for the overall volume of the game. Though, given that you're so new to game design, I'd imagine you had a lot of other concerns on your plate, haha.
I really appreciate the feedback, thanks
Creative idea, I really enjoyed this game and the relaxing music!
Very cute and enjoyable! I love the concept it's a very creative take on the "echoes" theme.
If I were to make a recommendation I would definitely say that spacebar being used for both the core game mechanic and menu navigation is quite troublesome as the first time I beat the game I accidentally clicked straight past the end screen. Making these two separate buttons or placing a short timer before the player can click away from the screen would avoid that issue.
Otherwise it was a very relaxing game and I had a lot of fun with it!
Thanks, and good point about to space bar, I'll be sure to change it when i get the chance
This was actually so fun and pretty creative. I like that the volume lowers after bouncing off of a wall and that once someone hears your song they will go listen to you at the bench. As an added bonus too I happened to get the last person I needed right as the song was ending for the first time so it ended really nicely
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
