Really cool interpretation of the jam theme! I think this is also just a dang decent twin-stick style shooter. Setting up slow moving bubbles as traps with sq- I mean the turtle was really fun to pull off. Nice work!!

whats funny is i didn't intentionally knew he looked like a certain someone until my teammate pointed that out lol

thanks for playing! really appreciate it

picking my own penalty, rather than it being handed to me, was just an extra layer of depth that felt like it fit the theme of the jam well! I do not like to be penalized but the added pressure of choosing the “right” penalty just made the leveling up experience that much more interesting! Great work!

thanks! it was the first idea we both had! and went for it! it was an idea that we both knew would keep players on their toes

I really liked this one! I did discover that by sitting in the top left area you're more or less untouchable if you pick the right upgrades. Another nice touch if you add on in the future would be more variation between the upgrades and downgrades. Overall though, I had a really good time!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for playing! yes we had tons of cool upgrades and even wanted to introduce abilities during the later levels, but sadly scrapped due to us running out of time. we definitely want to add that afterwards. thanks for playing

You really captured the feel of a battle arena! Right off the bat, the enemies were fast and dangerous. I really felt like I was scrapping for my life in the first round.

I like the city/urban tileset goes a long way toward setting the tone of the game. Obviously, this isn't a story-driven game, but I am definitely intrigued by this world and the monsters populating it.

The enemies did have a few pathfinding issues moving around corners, but the manic tilting animation makes them feel rabid and hungry, so the semi-blind charge toward the player actually feels appropriate.

I watched Kevin play this on-stream, so I was only planning to play for a few minutes, but this is a really addictive game loop! I told myself "one more level" more than once so I could take just one more upgrade.

thank you so much for playing! Really means a lot! I put a lot of thought into designing the art my partner knows we cycled through alot of other designs before we landed on this. My partner did a fantastic job creating the gameplay loop.

I also discovered the pro strategy of the machinegun turtle haha. I thought the music paired really well. Nice take on the theme!

Hahaha, I suppose I should have had projectiles expire sooner too. You're getting kills off the screen!

Pretty enjoyable game with good visual clarity and easy to pick up, the monster designs look cute, and I liked the music.

I'd recommend keeping the camera centered, so you can see enemies coming more easily. I would usually camp in a corner and shoot bubbles from a distance because of this (I played the turtle the most, but tried each character). At some point the game would get pretty easy this way, with me picking damage + attack speed, and picking the enemy attack speed as penalty, so I would slowly become a bullet hell boss to the enemies. >:D

I found it harder to play as the slime than the other monsters, because of having limited range while my damage output seemed the same compared to the other characters (?), but I don't know if that's intentional.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for the feedback! The camera controller was a bit of a quick implementation and I can definitely see how the current way it works can be a bit annoying, very good recommendation.

quite simple, yet pretty challenging. i liked the monster design, they look both funny and kinda threatening, well done!

I liked the game! I do think it was too easy though. I played the turtle and got so high attack speed that I had to use an autoclicker. In the end i was getting a level in under 7 seconds.

Developer

thanks for the feedback, sadly we had little to no playtesting unfortunateluy, so we went blind with this. we appreciate telling us this

I like that there's three whole characters with different attacks and stats to play. My biggest problem was that the camera doesn't follow the player until you're right at the edge, which makes it hard to see if you're running into enemies. Also the slime attack animation is super cute!

thanks for the feedback! glad you liked the animations and the different selectable characters, and thanks for telling us about the camera issue.
