- An enjoyable entry, which put a smile on my face and had some nice emotive moments. Unfortunately, it felt like buggy gameplay and some conflicted game design distracted from that emotional resonance. Art, writing and the premise all seemed really fun. Text unfortunately typed on at a snails pace which was frustrating. On top of this, bugs prevented me from being able to progress through text properly. The game overall did a good job of creating a vivid atmosphere, and I had a really special moment when the storm cleared and everyone was assembled. Unfortunately the moment was cut short when I was unexpectedly thrown into combat. It really felt like there was a real conflict between the story you wanted to tell (a humorous adventure about companionship and working together), and the game it seems that you wanted to make (a 2 stick shooter about running around on your own and throwing rocks at enemies). I could imagine a situation where these elements could have worked hand in hand, but as is, it feels like the game design choices created a scope that wasn't achievable within the time frame. Considering the goal of the jam was to tell stories, I think that simplifying the mechanics could have allowed your story to shine. Well done though on making an entry that had a lot of charm and potential!

I like the idea of listening to a story and fighting off elements of it while it's being told. That was an interesting idea.
That being said, that was not obvious to me at all. I got killed by the first things, because I didn't realise that I had to fight things while the chief was still talking. In a similar (but less problematic) case, I also didn't know what I needed to do when the chief told me to go get equipped or whatever. Saying something like "go get some flowers, ale, and weapons" or "go talk to X, Y, and Z" might have been helpful to give the player some initial direction. Similarly, for the story, maybe the chief could preface that it will be dangerous, so be ready, or at least have someone shout out that there's danger when the things appear or something?
I also couldn't get the flower thing to work, and I'm not sure I know what the ale does?
Overall, a solid entry, especially for a first game. Well done.
Hi, thanks for playing our game . Yes all valid comments and we will implement them. The flower heals your tribesman, if you stand near them and press "E", they will heal. Press "F" for Ale, it will slow down enemies for a set period of time. Like you are intoxicated. Give it another shot, see if you can survive till the end.
Very good👌, need some polishing but very excited for your next games. 🫡
Unfortunately my PC flagged it as a suspicious download and wouldn't allow me to run it :(
Was it windows defender that flagged it? That is normal, there is a run anyway option. The .exe is perfectly safe.
itch.io has built in virus/malware scanning as well.
Awesome stuff! I wish I had a proper moustache, Did I get recked by werewolves?
There are a lot of enemies in this game but not werewolves. It was probably the Zombies 😂
I really loved the art style and music. I didn’t quite understand what exactly I was meant to do but for your first game I enjoyed it for what it was
Hi, thanks for playing our game. You have to survive the tale from the chief. First go talk to all the vendors in the corners of the map. After you collected all the rocks, flowers, ale and talked to everyone on the map. Go back to the chief he will tell you the tale. Press Enter on the chiefs story for the text to scroll on
Never felt so close to my stache before. Love it :3
