Description
I'm not sure which genre this falls into, really, but it was fun and it might become my proof-of-concept for a song that uses the same melody/leitmotif as other but is still very different.
I did this one it using LMMS - https://lmms.io

Its so cool how I can recognize that its celeste, yet it sounds so unique, and completely different from the original!! I love the variations of the leitmotif! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Man, this sounds as if I was trying to collect the Moon Berry blindfolded haha. It's full of energy, interesting variations, functional reharmoniaztions and an overall captivating piece. I think drums could be a little bit lower and maybe could use more change of dynamics throughout. Good job!

Developer

Thanks! I’ll indeed try making lowering the drums next time I make a song :P And changing dynamics is definitely an interesting idea! I don’t think I’ve ever really tried that.

Nice electronic sound! Good job!

Very well done! You have great variation that keeps my attention throughout the entire piece. Meter, rhythm, and tempo changes do a great job of invigorating the arrangement. In regard to the mixing comments below, I listened at a fairly low volume and I loved the balance! I think you did a great job overall! Thank you for sharing!

This was fun! I personally felt like the percussion was a little too forward for my taste, but otherwise the mix was great and your instrument/soundfont choices were nice!

I think this is actually a good point on this one.

The percussion is something I would EQ down a bit for this. It's less that it's forward and more that it just shoots all these high pitched tinny overtones into the rest of the track, rather than laying the foundation.

An interesting related point is that guitars with different types of woods and overtone profiles tend to be recommended for different styles of playing. I can't remember which woods did it, but some woods are really in the middle of the overtone profile, while others are "scooped" where there is a lot of bass and treble, but less mids, so that there is less interference with the vocalist.

Overall though they did well on this submission. It raises the point about overtone profiles in general and why instruments are layered where they are.

Developer(+1)

That’s interesting! I think a little bit of those overtones, specially at the start, are more because of the reverb I added, except I think the snare in the latter parts, which I now noticed was kinda obstructing the main melody at some points… Thanks for the analysis!

Developer

Thanks! As for the percussion, I think I exaggerate a little bit too much with percussion in my songs in general. I’ve been kinda trying to tone it down but I think I still have a long way to go on that :P

Nice! I love how it's super different but still sounds like Celeste! The ending made me feel like I accomplished something :)

I love this! Even though the instrumentation is really different from the original, it still has very Celeste-y vibes. Doing it all in LMMS with soundfonts/default samples is super impressive, as well - it sounds really polished.

Love this arrangement of this track! I can tell a lot of effort has been put into its mastering!
Great job!
