cHEVIE..... I'm glad this one ended in a way that was hopeful, at least ; _ ; I'm still sad ofc about the poor woman lost in the snow, alone but it's nice to know that they were both "found" and maybe "at peace".

Parts of the game were definitely scary, esp the thing chasing the player! I wanted to note, though, that at one point, if you're being chased by it, you can't backtrack to the first area (unless that was intentional?) So when running from it, it gives you the text about how you should find a stick/more sticks first. I felt it was a bit funny in the moment, like "hey, i know you're being chased by The Entity, but dont forget those sticks!"

Part of the flower(?) is visible behind the icicle, which I'm unsure was also intentional or not, but seeing it there, obscured by the icicle, I thought I had to touch or collect it for some reason? Maybe it just stood out to me and i was surprised that it was just for visuals haha

The art was beautiful ofc, and I loved just how freezing cold everything felt! I could feel my fingertips and chest get cold just thinking about wading around with that big heavy, wet dress in the freezing cold auuuugh i'd freeze for sure! You're very talented, using all these original assets/drawings for your games! It's always a real treat to see, and this game was no exception ^w^

A part of me also thinks "i sure hope people dont think the protag. was the one who k*lled someone, out there with all those bones ; _ ;" Either way, people let this be a lesson not to lean too far on rickety railings over a rushing river 😭😭

I also want to say, I'm so, so sorry about your loss. Fuck cancer indeed, and my condolences ):

Awww Egg, thanks so much for your kind words!! I told yall I'd make a happy ending haha. It's, ya know, kinda happy! A main character of mine lives to tell the tale!

This one was mostly an excuse to practice walking animations and finally using plugins haha. It's prob my shortest simplest game (okay I guess the joke one is shorter but). And I also tried really hard to stick to a fairly limited palette. The flowers were kind of a last minute addition cuz I was so worried people wouldn't be able to find the "doorways" in the deep woods area. (Fun fact : they're kind of an easter egg I secretly put in *most* of my games, they're the flowers from my very first jam game, Sweet Dreams that represented the two moms in that one). But you're not alone in thinking that they should be clicked on/collected. I think if I just make a single time common event that tells the reader "oh this is how I'll find my way" that should clear up the confusion. And the text during the chase sequence! haha 😂 it's always those small things you forget to even consider while playtesting. Good point, I should disable that stick text while the monster is chasing lol.

Ahh thank you again for your time, kindness and words!!!! I appreciate you sm <3

This game was really good, I love the little mini poems that appeared through out  the story. I also love the art style.

This was a very cool game for a lot of different reasons. Obviously, I'm impressed with the art direction. I think I would rather die than create so many animated assets in a hand-drawn style like this, and your dedication made a really stylistically-distinct game. The intro cinematic specifically stuck out to me a lot. It seems like a nightmare to get that functional in RPG Maker, and it adds a lot to the game tonally. Sometimes collisions are a bit awkward because the character is so large compared to what RPG Maker wants, but nothing felt impossible to navigate.
(On that note, I got stuck on the first map because I couldn't tell where I was meant to walk out. The tree I had to walk behind seemed like it was meant to be a collider, and I thought I somehow hardlocked myself.)

The writing is pretty well-done too. It compliments the tone of the game and its graphics really nicely. You managed to mix the somber introspection perfectly with the projection and theorizing on the bones, and somehow it felt like there was a deep connection between the protagonist and a dead girl that she'd never met. The line about wondering what her skull looked like was one that stuck out to me a lot.

My only real criticism is that the chase scenes kind of clash with the well-constructed tone of the rest of the narrative. This game's slow, contemplative pacing is its best quality, and the sudden bouts of fast-paced, high-tension gameplay and audio detracted from that quite a bit.

Other than that, I really did like this entry. It has a very clear goal running through its art, its audio design, and its writing, and it accomplishes this goal incredibly well.

Thanks for giving it a go!! This is wonderfully helpful feedback, I so appreciate it. I especially am really glad the connection between the two girls resonated. I really struggled with the line there. I didn't want to beat the reader over the head with it, but I also wanted to make sure the fear the MC was feeling was coming through. That sense of "oh that could be me" was really core to the whole thing.

Really good feedback about the monster / chase scenes. I don't usually do chase sequences haha and I totally agree that I think there needs more build up / they kind of come out of nowhere. I think my goal was for it to be like a metaphor for the fear of death, wearing you down, but I'm not sure that that reads hahaha.

Comments like this are so nice to read and just a huge help, thanks <3
