While this game did nothing calm my bitter enmity for dogs, it was indeed a sweet little platformer. The game is fairly well-signposted, and has a some basic platformer-ey features like obsticles and bouncy platforms. Having a bit of a story is also cool, and there is some basic sound effects and music thrown in there!
Overall, a solid platformer that which entertained for the few minutes it takes to play. Thanks for submitting!
youre welcome
It’s an alright game, I guess. I wouldn’t say it’s so bad it’s good though, mostly just a neutral ‘ehh I suppose it’s a game’.
The controls work well, and the things in the game work as intended, without any real game-breaking glitches.
But the overall experience is just a bit apathy-inducing. There’s no real challenge, or any real source of fun. It’s just… ehh.
Maybe if the dog had to outrun something in order to not fail (what if the dog was trying to outrun someone who is trying to get the dog to take a bath? What if the dog was trying to run away from a particularly annoyed cat? etc), maybe the game would be a bit more exciting, but in it’s current state, it’s just a bit boring overall, which is rather disappointing.
it is not about the dog it's an adventure to find his master You can see the ending but it is quite boring so il work on it
yes, I know that the premise is ‘adventure to find the dog’s master’, but that particular suggestion was somewhat going off how buckets of water (buckets which look somewhat like a stereotypical bath) are used as obstacles in this game (as, in the context given by the game itself, there’s no real justification given for why the buckets should be avoided).
it a meme that dogs don't like water It's a dog game so what else should be the obstacle unless a cat
I’m just trying to come up with some constructive criticism, suggesting things that could help everything in the game to work together a bit better to produce a more cohesive and fun gameplay experience. If you would prefer it if I refrained from trying to give constructive criticism, I will. But the overall gameplay experience does feel particularly hollow, without any real pizazz to properly capture the player’s attention.
yes you are right i will try to make the game more interesting :)
A super sweet little game. Well done.
The music makes me feel like someone is about to break up with me, but I'm somehow ok with it? It's a super simple game with a feel good kind of ending. There isn't much game but some basic platforming though.
so bad it good:)
It's… okay? It's a very cute, somewhat janky platformer. I unironically love the music. I think it does have a degree of so bad it's good to it, but not to the degree of some of the other entries. It has the janky gameplay down, but it's just too cute and conventional to really hit the SBIG highs in my mind.
sorry for the janky gameplay it is intentionally added for the so bad its good part
but really happy you liked it
so cool love the lack of sophistication while still making amazing sprites and backgrounds, you really went for the true nature of this jam.
thank you
Sorry to bother you, but I think you might have forgotten to bear in mind the modifier for this game jam.
Im sorry to tell but I not sure what modifier means one of my first jams so yeah
Okay, so, game jams usually have a modifier/theme, and when participating in a game jam, the aim is usually to create a game based on/tangentally related to that modifier/theme. For a better explanation, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_jam#Theme
The modifier for the So Bad It’s Good Jam this year (visible on the main page of the jam https://itch.io/jam/sbigjam2022 and in the jam discord server (linked on the main page)) is “Shh! The tortoise might hear”, so there’s an expectation that the games produced for this jam would relate to the prompt of ‘“Shh! The tortoise might hear”’ in some way, no matter how contrived/shoehorned in it is.
(and hell, trying to come up with a game that relates to the theme of a jam, and seeing how everyone else shoehorned it in, is part of the fun!)
thanks for telling
