I was hoping we'd get some form of doom clone again this year, and this was pretty good!

I liked the basic enemy types, and the muscial instruments as weapons was fun, I really liked the changing pitch on the trumpet! And the repeated fire pattern level texture and the constant metal riffing was a nice edgy touch.

I sadly wasn't able to finish it though as I found I was just getting piled on by enemies. I think another stronger weapon like a tuba or maybe a didgeridoo-like rapid fire weapon would be nice addition in the future.

I also found it a bit wonky sometimes with the mouse smoothing, but that's kinda thematic.

But overall I liked it. Good work!

Thank you!

The camera smoothing issue is definitely something I'm looking to resolve after this jam is over.

This was really great! I loved the different creatures you had to defeat, and liked how they had different properties you had to handle. The different bugle pitches were a nice touch!

I managed to get to the wizard after getting the 5 instruments! Took me a few attempts but got there in the end! It might be good just to have  some invincibility frames after taking damage, as it seems right now if a few enemies hit you, you can almost instantly die from full health. Other than that this game felt very good to play!

Thanks for submitting!

Thank you for playing!

I think the invincibility frames is definitely something I would implement after the jam. It's a really good idea that would certainly make the game less ruthless lol.

This feels really smooth to play! It was funny to clap along with the music while sprinting across the map.

Thank you for playing! :)

silly looking but fun game. Maybe the red enemies have too much health but the game is good

Developer

Thank you for playing!

I'll definitely take that red enemy comment into consideration if I do end up making changes to this game later on (after the jam).

Just for transparency, I'd like to say I've uploaded a hotfixed version of the game. Below are the changes I made

  • Fixed mouse sensitivity issue
  • Fixed issue where options menu in-game will not work
  • Added button to allow user to exit game without needing to Alt-F4
  • Improved enemy vision
  • Buffed trumpet (shoots notes faster)
  • Buffed clap (increased range)
  • Fixed minor camera issue
  • Made the sound for when the player gets damaged louder

Hard to control as the sensitivity felt really low for my tiny mousepad, and still really fun somehow, I loved the theme and the music and sounds were fun, bonus points for how chaotic it gets further up which made me laugh, and the fact that this was added 5sec before the deadline

Thank you! Unfortunately, I ran out of to resolve that mouse sensitivity issue. For some reason, the build doesn't work for changing mouse sensitivity in game.

If you want to try fixing this, you can go to 'Options' before clicking 'Start Game', and crank that mouse sensitivity waaaay up.
