It's a neat idea in theory, but I do question how this game is packaged because it put me off from the get-go. There was no way I was going to blindly run a VB script, and few people have Java installed in 2024. Fortunately it's pretty obvious what's going on, but I nearly didn't even bother looking.
The game itself has a pretty neat aesthetic, but I have no idea what's going on, even with the game window stretched way bigger than intended. I figured out that I could switch items, and that I could attack when prompted, but I still kept dying (to turrets, I think?). It's really hard to tell what's killing me, where it's coming from, or what I'm doing.
Did you bother to read the tutorial or the bit about controls? Anyways, thanks for the feedback.
I didn't, but I just looked, and it didn't really give me anything I hadn't figured out myself, other than putting a few names to thing. I think the biggest issue is that the game is so lo-fi I can't really make out what's a turret and when I'm being attacked.
Adjust screen brightness? Or I suppose I could just make the game brighter.
Yeah uhhh
Not able to get this one to run :P
ok went into the game files and realized it was just a renamed godot exe so was able to run it with wine
...then promptly fell through the ground when I tried to use the tree
Yup. Regarding the tree, it is a known bug. Everyone hates it haha!
I applaud you for your commitment to The Bit.
One gripe I do have is with the hotbar system (it does feel a bit unnecessary when the tree/the finger are activated with different buttons - however, if the two did use the same ‘use thing’ button, there would be more of a reason for the hotbar to be there).
The tree completely destroying the movement code was mildly amusing at first, but it did eventually kinda kill the mood a bit (as it made the bear traps seemingly immovable objects, and it appeared like there was one part which required the player to destroy a bear trap in the way (unless I missed something) which is, of course, impossible to do without effectively destroying oneself in the process)
Still, great work.
Thank you for the feedback! Pretty much everything you said is what was going through my brain after I published it haha
well, fools seldom differ and all that
This game looks great! The graphics and general aesthetic of the game are perfectly SBIG!
Il liked the concept, and it definitely looks the part. The tree just causing the player to immediately fall through the map was also hilarious.
I couldn't seem to bewitch the 2nd turret so I always seemed to die there? But either way it was a really fun experience! Thanks for submitting!
Thank you! And you're welcome! I didn't notice the bug with the second turret until after I uploaded. It was already late at night, so I just accepted defeat.
uhhh is this supposed to happen?
Also whenever I swung the tree I just fell through the ground
Don't ask XD
I got lost in the tunnels, but I like the visuals of this game!
Yah the visuals are the only good part
