The aesthetic is 10/10. This feels like a 1980s Atari game from parallel universe. It was a pleasure to look at and I think that should be the main selling point for the game (gifs, Itch cover image, etc.).
The gameplay is a bit confusing. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing. I don't understand how I'm dying and what time numbers/bars mean exactly (2nd is for the fireballs, got that one - but does it recharge?). Could use a bit more polish for the controls and player messaging.

I forgot about the theme once the jam started. I realized halfway through, but it was too late to implement it. Next time I do a jam, I'm making sure I remember the theme before conceptualizing my game!

the screen effects are waaaayyy too strong, i didn't understand whats was happening, but otherwise, seems a nice game
