👑 Appreciate it

Hey, stumbled across your page (might be your Reddit source) here.

Great work on your page, I like how you embedded the control instructions into the background.

There you are in gold, congrats!

Do you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment?

Get your name up there and I’ll think about it ;)

Ah no worries, it’s a Herculean task to go through all the submissions in that small of a time period (and still give them due attention). Let me know about the video - I’d love to see it!

It does not, the only height based difficulty feature is the pressure that comes with progress ;)

I may have missed it, but have you played the game on stream? I always enjoy watching a live reaction.

Classic webgl compiler has to always mess something up - I think with that adjusted it's a very good mobile game prototype!

Oh so no one got there yet? haha

I do see your point, but it still might be worth trying to find the middle point. For example most enemy types are one-hittable, but some have shields which can deflect the 'rangs. Or maybe using the boomerang types - some are invulnerable to the hot boomerang and it bounces off.

My pleasure! See you on the next one buddy.

It's always nice to close something for peace of mind, but I would be a liar if I said I always go back to fix my game jam games haha

Appreciate the feedback despite the challenging experience. The skill floor is a little too high I have to admit, I think adding easier level variants at the bottom might've helped teach new players the mechanics.

I'm not good enough to get 2$ :(

Generally a really great game. The fast-paced feel really hits right and chaining jumps is satisfying. The only change I'd suggest is adding a bit leeway at the bottom to hit some of the lower platforms with greater downward force. Sometimes I think I'd be able to get that bottom screen platform just to have my run busted.

Hit the theme just right - real bouncy! This game satisfies the destructor inside me 🔨

As a squash player IRL this game connects with me, I can also see why you spent more time playing it than developing it haha.

One thing I'd suggest changing is making the leaderboard optional in the game. It covers a lot of the pretty aesthetic and takes focus away from the game.

Rare to see a Pico8 game, always has an interesting vibe. The abilities feature is a little unclear, I'm not sure if I was able to activate them or not. Good job on putting the game together!

I feel what's really missing from this game is that the boomerangs do fly through the enemies, potentially even outright destroying them on the spot. In my opinion this would really boost the game up to "destroyer against hordes of enemies"  satisfaction levels.

The gameplay loop is interesting, but I feel like adding some more space would make it less claustrophobic. Let those asteroids bounce around some more, let the core idea shine!

I love the block breaker genre and you really managed to nail the destruction feel in your game with the screen shaking and general speed of the game. Towards the end my paddle was as large as the screen, so didn't really have to play anymore at that point 😅

Amazing, one of the top jam games for me. I really am digging the aesthetics, the music fits well, the gameplay loop is simple and the difficulty ramps up perfectly.

Big props to you my guy!

What the dog doing 😂

Very cute game and the gameplay loop is easy to learn, hard to master. My only suggestion would be to add animation to the dog because sometimes it looks like it is taxidermized :(

So this is what conventional RPG dungeon slime monsters do in their free time? That's great, I was afraid they stood around all day waiting... 😥

I like this idea and the music is much better than you'd expect of a small timeframe. The slime is cute and bouncy. Great job!

I was thinking of the Mesoamerican ball game. Maybe you've watched the animated film "The Road to El Dorado"? It sprang into my mind because of the balls and hoops :)

Really good game here - congrats! It is indeed a difficult game, very unforgiving if you make the wrong move. I really appreciate the effort put into the animation state machine for the protagonist, it feels very natural and is quite cute 🎈

Two cents from my side if you're interested: (1) You could change the visual of the enemy projectiles to differentiate "death material" from "bounce material", at first I thought I had avoid those until I realized that I can still save myself. (2) Dash as a rechargeable, not refreshable - sometimes the player gets a lot of air time and getting a dash again while in the air would really help get some control back into the hands of the player.

Thanks man! I definitely should've added more telegraphy to the controls (eg. with the pogo stick discharge) - it's a lesson for next time :)

Thanks! Happy to hear it was fun despite the hurdles of frustration

… the glass breaks to reveal inside - oh no it’s  <insert character’s name>‘s ex lover! She knows about the beans and the olives. Run for your lives!

Thank you - appreciate it!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it and you broke gold! Congrats 🥇

Thanks, appreciate it!

Sounds like the name of the angry woman inside the chopper which I think fits well in the game.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about copyright issues when it comes to using names within games (maybe it'd be an issues with titles). I don't think the American army asked the Native American tribes for their blessing when they started naming their helicopters Apaches (The AH-64 was named the Apache in late 1981, following the tradition of naming Army helicopters after Native American tribes).

Love the game, brings back many paper based games from my childhood. The sound is lacking a bit I think - could use some funky tunes to fill in the empty void. One of the best games I've played so far. Wouldn't be surprised to see this one win!

The art is lovely, reminds me a bit of Gris. The duck is illegally cute. I would add a bit more to the running mechanics to keep the game interesting, but overall well put together. Great job!

Thanks mate! I planned to add more obstacles and dangers to the levels the higher the player is, but unfortunately 72h is not efficiency friendly :(

Sense of pride and accomplishment 😁

I would be happy to see this game expand with more ideas - the creative direction is flawless.

I did get there and I was at first surprised because I didn't expect to have to down to survive haha

I didn't manage to beat Apashe in the end (not a true gamer 😥) . What's the origin of the name?

I totally missed that, it does indeed help. Did the shader fail for the webgl build or was is a different issue?

Love the aesthetics and vibe in the game. Of course it's shooting whales with ducks because why wouldn't it be? The water design works well and pairs nicely with the ducks and whales. Overall love the design and creative direction.

The only improvement I would suggest is more free movement in the air - the player spends most of their time gliding, so giving more control to the player would improve the controls feel I think.
