Honestly very fun game! I got a high score of 479, I tried going for 500 but it gets super hard for me at around 300. I wouldn't really go for the puffballs, since it seemed like I would lose speed too quickly if I did
as a bird logo'd company, we approve of this game
I realy like this game, and simple but all polished, graphics is good, music is nice, about gameplay i like how you create the movement. Very Good job
Love the sprite work done here and very rewarding gameplay. Great entry!
Very cool game :D I loved the concept of using your speed to move around. The soundtrack is also super nice. Was it also done by you? By the way, which engine is that?
The sounds were created by a friend of mine over the course of half an hour. I'll see how he wants to be credited on here (not sure if I should drop his government name). And as for the engine, this is done in vanilla javascript, using the HTML5 canvas.
Congratulations on submitting! I really like the thumbnail also. The controls were just a little annoying since there is a half a second of input lag before the bird moves. But it was a lot of fun so great work!
This game is addicting! I love the style, especially the design and animation of the bird. I wish there was more variety in the distance and size of the wood panels, but other than that it's super well done!
Cool game :D
It’s very fun to play and keeps you hooked! I needed some time to get used to the controls, but after I’ve played a few mins I got the hang of it. This game also seems to be perfect for mobile devices, so would be nice if you could do maybe an android build.
This game is fun, and bears a lot of similarities to the game Paper Plane.
The collectables are an interesting addition to the game, but unfortunately they are completely random. The fun of Paper Plane comes from the demand of precision, and you've captured that excellently here. The collectable addition seems more like an addition rather than an integral part of the game because the player really doesn't have much choice on whether they collect them or not. At the end of the day, the player MUST keep the bird alive, and they CAN get the collectables. That means that they're never really incentivized to go out of their way to get collectables.
I like this game, but I think you could add some more unique mechanics to spice it up.
Great job!
The collectables came as a recommendation of a playertester and after adding them we decided we had to keep them. As far as them being randomly placed you are completely correct, unfortunately I didn't have enough time to implement correct placement.
Glad you still enjoyed the game in spite of this issue! Check back in the future (after the jam) for a fix to that issue.
This game is all about the trade off between control and progress. Do you take it slow and steady, but progress slowly? Or do you take a risk and go for speed, so you can have a chance to get further? I really like the mechanics, although they are a bit difficult to get the hang of. Sometimes you can anticipate your demise before it even happens, if you happen to get stuck in a corner you may realize you have no chance of escape before it actually happens. This can feel a bit frustrating, but such is life for a baby bird falling from the sky...
Love the pixel art and the ambient music! Sometimes the level restarts so quickly and you immediately fall into a branch which spawns directly under you. It might be good to have a short grace period in the very beginning of each playthrough.
Nice job on this game and really creative interpretation for "momentum"! You really feel it in the gameplay
Thank you for the well thought out review. I love that you can see the risk and reward that is at the core of the game.
Thank you for pointing out the quick restart issue, I wasn't having that in my tests. I will look into that and hopefully fix the issue.
Good job on your game aswell btw!
Intuitive but unique movement system, satisfying to learn how to use the downward momentum to transition into moving left and right. The graphics are a standout as well, makes me nostalgic for some old pokemon games!
Interisting idea. The game is easy, some more diversity would be good. Kudos
I failed to save the baby bird. Now I'm sad...
Really like how the movement system creates ways of playing; the first time I played, I slowed down my baby bird, having a more controlled but slow play. After it eventually died, I went full speed boat rocket mode, shooting past tree branches left and right.
It's so hard haha bun fun !
The visual part is very good. In this case, the part with the template should be improved.
Controls and ambience are very well polished. Congratz and good luck!
