loved this game man the sound effects had me dying

Congrats for getting on top 10! For both criterias

Love the aspect of building out chapters that span game jams, but connecting a weird universe storyline. Great job with writing, aesthetic and overall map layout and design.

I love how you've got the familiarity of the style between this and the first episode but it's SO different as well! I absolutely love the sound that the zombies make, that may be my new favourite thing ever...

Another hit.. I loved it This was a HUGE improvement from the previous episode, which I did not have any problems with anyway. . I enjoyed the little details around the map, made the area feel more like a small town rather than a randomly generated horror game. Actual pieces of dialogue and a story this time around, too. Not just some washed up story either, one that included history, revenge, and betrayal. While playing I was jump-scared twice. The twist ending was pretty crazy as well, and I really appreciate that you do not have to reset the entire game to get both possible outcomes. The choice between long-range and short-range combat was intriguing, or even choosing not to aid in such. I managed to get the good ending before the true ending.

Hahaha thank you so much, man, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear! It's so nice to hear that you noticed all the ways I attempted to improve the experience from the last one, I really appreciate it! I wish I could've spent a little more time on the twist ending, but you know, game jams and time constraints like always hahaha

That's incredible you got the good ending first, you must be pretty hardcore to choose to juke the zombies the first time through or only use the umbrella the whole time! I'm also glad the story wasn't too hard to follow, as it sounds like you figured it out perfectly! The good ending does explain things a little better since Rumpelton lies to the newspapers in the true ending and generally makes it kind of confusing to follow.

Thanks again for the response, man, I appreciate it!

There's some great ideas in this surreal mix between horror, shooter, and adventure game! I think that having an episodic game is great idea to carry ambitious ideas over a broader narrative. I haven't played the first part, so I didn't quite understand the direction of the story, but I certainly think the shifting tone of the plot worked well. Having a day/night cycle was a great way to build the tension, culminating in the frightening rush through the cornfields fending off absurd gravy-faced people!

I think it's clear you've made a lot of progress in development. You have quite complex scripted sequences and camera setups, a dialogue system, multiple objectives, and a neat combat system to boot! I hope that some of these elements can come together again in a longer, self-contained experience. I still don't quite understand what I just played, but I certainly liked playing it a lot!

Thanks for submitting One Way Ticket (Ep. 2) to the SCREAM LITE jam!

Thank you, I appreciate the compliments on the programming! As for the story, it is actually already self-contained, as episodes don't have anything to do with each other in One-Way Ticket in the same way episodes of the Twilight Zone don't relate to each other. A bit of backstory is provided on the game page, but you'll have to let me know what parts of the narrative weren't clear.

Thank you for the review, I really appreciate it!

The Story Line Is Really Good, It Is A Beautiful Game And I Enjoyed Playing It!

Developer

Thanks, man, I really appreciate that and the rating! Definitely makes having finished the game worth it despite all those darn bugs I had to track down! Hahaha

Really good atmosphere and scary.. I like the part on the path to go back home..

Developer

Thanks, man I appreciate it! I regret not adding some UI to point out the gate in case the player chose the boltcutters path first, it seems like people got confused on that! Hahaha

I'll be playing your entry later today!

I also noticed the chicken man from your previous game.. nice cameo.

Developer

Hahaha yeah everyone was surprisingly attached to him, so I figured I'd include him too! I wanted to more with him, but I already pushed 2 days past the deadline because the scope was too big. Ah well. Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it!

I've always loved this low-res style. I'm gonna have to check out episode 1 now!

Developer

Hahaha yeah, I mostly use it to speed up the process for the game jams, but the nostalgia is good too. I finished your entry this morning! It was pretty hilarious, the art is amazing!
