Great job! Herding the cattle felt a bit clunky at times given that they would glitch a bit when pushed up against walls or against other cows, but I enjoyed the concept and the idea of maneuvering your character correctly to drive the cows in the right direction. I'll note that I was a bit confused as to when the use of the theme would come in, as it felt like neither themes were incorporated as a core part of the theme or mechanics. I think it was a great idea overall, but it could use better integration with the game jam theme (Though that may also just be because I'm a stickler for having a jam's theme be core to the concept of a game :))
ya i know the theme was a smaller part of the game. i was having a tough time coming up with a concept that wasn't just infinite lives or something generic. this was my first game jam and was a great experience. Glad you liked it and thanks for the constructive feed back
The controls and cow herding mechanic were a little hard to get used to but got easier the fewer cows there were on the right. The game incorporated the theme and I did actually like the lasso minigame, but in my opinion, felt like it was a little too disjointed from the actual game in that it seemed like it was a minigame that happened to be in the game rather than a mechanic that works to enhance the main gameplay loop.
Also, a possible bug I found was that, after losing by putting cow 4 in the pen when it asked me to place cow 3 in, I completed the rebuttal and cow 4 was still on the left. The game then asked me to place in cow 4, even though it was already on the left.
Overall cool game and the music was pretty chill.
ya there was that bug i wasn't able to get sorted where if you put the wrong one in you couldn't win. Thank for playing and all the feed back.
Nice game idea, game objective is simple and gameplay variation is built in nicely so it's easily re-playable. I find that trying to herd the cattle can feel clunky since they push away from the wall, and that usually works against my favor since I push to the left wall and they go to the right. Also the geometry between the player and the cattle is inopportune since you're guaranteed to only push the cattle for a second before they slip off of you. I'd like to see an an easier way to push the cattle, either with a bigger player hitbox or having the cows slowly avoid the player as we get closer. A time bonus for each cattle you herd could be nice as well to incentivize the player a little more. Lastly, I got all the cows to the left and didn't get a victory screen, so I'm confused as to what the victory conditions are. Overall, great concept, useful albeit simple use of the game jam theme, and pretty fun once you get used to the controls. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for the detailed feedback the movement for the cows was actually quite more complex than it would seem to be and took many days to get to where it is now. I would have liked it to be better but time wasn't there. Also the victory should show when you get them all in order that may be a small bug it's a hard game to beat so it was somewhat difficult to test some of the later game bugs. I'm glad you enjoyed it this one a fun experience for my first game jam.
I really liked the unique concept! The game was true to your name, great job!
thank you for the feedback glad you enjoyed it.
The controls took some time to get used to but once I got the hang of it, it was fun from there.
Great Job!
Thanks for the feedback
