I actually had to look up the "Trolley Problem" as I'd never heard of it.   The game makes a whole lot more sense now!   I'm not real sure how to take the core concept of the problem and make it fun though as it's rather grim either way!  Off the top of my head (and this is from wayyyy out in left field), what if it were more of a game show/Total Carnage thing where you have a crowd either cheering or booing you on depending on your choice and the info that was revealed after your choice?  You have to keep the crowd on your side or they revolt (you lose)?

Thanks for trying it out! I definitely was trying to keep the art style and music lighthearted given the inherit grim nature of the concept. A game show framing could totally work towards that as well!

Nice entry! Great visual and audio. I had to think a little while for some of the choices, lol. If you have a chance, will you play my game entry and give it a rating? It would be greatly appreciated.

I like it, well polished, good music. I guess I'm unsure why part of the description was hidden away, for kind of shock factor when you kill them? Might be more interesting to have it already revealed when making your decision to kill. This could be a fun anonymous(or not) mp game, feed wacky scenarios or traits into a random combobulator and see how others choose to kill or spare vs your own choices. Also maybe a results screen showing who you decided to kill/spare.

In a classic "trolley problem" situation you are often incentivized to go the utilitarian route and choose what appears to benefit the most people overall. My argument is that there's just way too much unknown context to make a sound choice, and I'm showing that here by having half the info reveal only afterwards. Whether that's an argument for or against utilitarianism though I couldn't tell you ;)

Thanks so much for playing and rating it! I totally agree about the mp potential, could be very interesting to see more objective statistics.

An interesting take on the trolley problem. I would have appreciated more time to read each person's attributes though! I like the meta-philosophy here of trying to guess what the developer (you) thinks is the best choice to make.

Developer

Psh, nothing but pure objective truth here ;)

Thanks for the feedback, do you think it would play better if it started out slower (more time) and gradually increased in speed up to the current speed?

Perhaps that would help. But I appreciate that part of the "problem" of the trolley problem is that you don't have much time to decide and have to go on gut reaction.
