Poor Melanie! TT__TT
That was a great game! I literally jumped when I saw the imnotsorry Melanie.
Ahh! Thank you so much punniiyan! Glad you enjoyed it <3
Hehe, that was both sweet and terrifying at the same time x3 Put a smile on my face :3 I won't spoil anything but I do love stuff like that.
KINDA SPOILERS
I'm glad I saved playing with that file until after I'd read through the story because I was so, so tempted to go for that first x3
Short stories can indeed be fun!
Melancholy Marionette (LOVE the name btw!!), thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed both parts to the game, and Melanie and I both appreciate your time! X3
Damn, I almost have a heart attack. I guess that's what happens when you play with the wrong things XD
Anyway, I liked this one, short games are cool too. I'd be really fun if you make a longer game with this kind of premise!
Thank you, Eufasy! I think you're the first person to have, at least, mentioned the "imnotsorry" bit of the game- thanks! It was a stray thought I had that seemed like it would be really cool to implement- having this character address you by your computer's name, much like Monika in Doki Doki. It's my favorite part of the whole game, but not Mel's... ;)
Thank you again- with the response I've gotten, maybe I will have to flesh the game out a bit more...
Well, Melanie asked me to not play with the "imnotsorry.txt" file and the first thing I wanted to do was exactly that XD
But I played the whole game first because I thought it was important to know the game before "breaking" it.
This is a short one so I don't have a huge review :D
The premise is great and the execution works well with what you had in mind for the story.
If you want to work on this further now that the jam is over, you could customize the UI a bit so it's not the standard ren'py one and fits the theme of your game better. I don't know much about design, so I sadly don't have any cool suggestions for that.
From a usability standpoint, it's a bit weird to deny the user an option to quit via the regular buttons, but I understand where you're coming from. It fits the idea behind the VN.
Overall, nicely done :)
CrazyCowLady (LOVE the name btw!), thank you! With the two Ren'py games I've made, I made the decision to learn something new each project. The UI is definitely next on my list, for the next VN I work on! :) As for the quitting aspect, it is most definitely weird! My goal with this game was more so uneasiness- it's not a "game", it's a story after all. And Melanie HATES when people try to disrupt her story ;)
Thank you so much for your comment, and I'm glad you enjoyed! :D
Yeah, that's exactly how we started. First we made sure we could finish making games on time, then later we started playing around with the UI. One thing at a time :)
Edit: also yeah, cows are awesome lol
Extremely short but I love the promise in this project, the pixel art is stylistically perfect for this project. The black goo in the sink freaked me out o.o;
Hi Camden, thank you for the comment! Although, I believe you might have posted under the wrong game! Don't worry, it happens to everyone XD
Thank you regardless!
(Tim) This one was pretty fun, haha! Definitely gave me a bit of emotional whiplash, which is exactly what was intended I think.
The music for this is excellent! I hope we can get in contact about collaborating.
Hey, thank you so much! Indeed, I'm glad my writing worked out the way I wanted! :)
Much thanks on the score! I'd love to discuss composing for any of your upcoming projects- feel free to contact me at markknappjr@gmail.com! Thanks again!
