Very well written and polished. The text effects and sound clips are really effective. Looking forward to seeing more!
Small nitpick: It may seem a bit obvious seeing as the story discusses eugenics, but I think it's still worth giving a content warning for discrimination and racism in the description for the game.
Captivating! I included it in my Spring Cleaning Twine Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)
I really liked the world building and characters, as well as the special effects on the text in certain sections. I didn't like that sometimes you clicked on things and it was just an inline exposition and other times it took you to new passages as there's no indication of which is which so a few times I clicked on something thinking it was inline and was sent elsewhere before I had read the entire passage. The chapter length was perfect and I think this is going to be a really interesting series. I will definitely play the next chapters.
My review is almost definitely biased, because I'm a sucker for alternate history stories, but oh well. This is probably one of the most published games I've seen submitted for this jam. The visual effects (blurry text) are used very effectively throughout the game. and the UI is very straightforward, which I enjoyed.
I particularly enjoyed the descriptions in this game and getting to know the characters. I feel that I was able to influence the characters's personality with some of the choices I made. The exposition of the kind of world that this is set in is done well, particularly the scene with the flickering signs: it felt very sinister and very real. Your prose is very thoughtful - I lack the vocabulary to appropriately describe it, but it was a pleasure to read.
It's a shame that this ended so quickly - I'm really looking forwards to the rest of the game! Thank you for sharing.
