Are we allowed to make generic art assets, if so what are the limitations? I only ask for clarification because it says you can gather 3rd party art assets and create general purpose code.

What do you mean by generic art assets? Like programmer art?

I mean things like materials and general use models (I.e. doors, hallway panels, etc.)

In the spirit of being honorable id prefer custom assets be made during the time frame but I can't stop  you from making assets that end up  in the game if you make them yourself.  Because anything you make you have the right use once the jam begins. And that is a loophole I'm aware of.
