Enjoying the game a lot! I am stuck looking for a light source as well. Also, when I am trying to read the tome, and press return to continue, I am missing some of the text that may seem vital to solving puzzles.

You'll  find a light source on the shipwreck and a means of lighting it in the chest.

I'm stuck. I think I've been everywhere except the dark room, but haven't found a light source yet. I've got a few ideas, but no way of achieving those ideas. There might be something useful in the chest, but I haven't found a way of opening it or breaking it yet. I think this game would be pretty hard for a beginner. Or maybe I'm just dumb. Other than the difficulty, I'm enjoying it so far.

I see that there is now a walkthrough, so I guess I'll have to resort to that, much as I hate resorting to walkthroughs.

Thanks. I was wearing the relevant object, but didn't connect it to swimming. I tweaked to this in the walkthrough. So, I'm now on the home straight (I think).

Developer

Did you wear it when you found it? The hint when you put it on connects to the hint you get if you try to swim without it…

Submitted

Yes, but the time between my initial attempt to swim at the start of the game and wearing the thing we're talking about much later in the game was so great that I have no idea if there were any hints to connect the two.

Developer

It’s also shiny, another good reason to put it on. :)

The love letter!  👏👏👏

The parser was a bit fiddly (e.g. in / out were missing), X ME didn't work and the inventory limit was annoying. But apart from those niggles I enjoyed it. I found the two dream sequences in particular to be quite well done.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks so much, I was quite proud of the dreaming.

Could you give me an example or two of the in/out missing? Do you just mean as aliases for enter/exit? I take missing aliases/valid commands very seriously and I’d love to fix it.

I think some people would prefer no limits (are you in that category?)… the limit is currently 15… I found it annoying myself when it was 10 but after bumping it to 15 it seemed just annoying enough to be realistic without getting in the way too much. If I were to increase it further I’d likely just disable it. It’s true inventory management isn’t a key part of the type of story I’m trying to tell here.

Submitted

Yes, I mean in/out as aliases for intransitive enter/exit.

I am indeed in the no inventory limit camp.

Developer(+1)

I added in/out. :). Thanks again.
