This was a really bittersweet story. I had a suspicion after the "baseball" conversation, and was pleasantly surprised to see I was correct. Mr. Crow and James are both very charming characters, and I'd say you executed the theme really well.
Gameplay wise, it was quite fun! I had a great time wandering around the forest looking for parts, and the calming music and delightful art only added to the experience. I do think the jump height and speed was a little... off. It made controlling James a little difficult at times. But overall it was a delightful experience!
Simple but surprisingly well conceived and told story, the twist seemed jarring on the first 6-piece run but came together quite nicely with the actual ending.
The crow enemies throughout the level were a nice bit of foreshadowing to the boss fight.
As previous mentioned, the jump height and speed did feel pretty jarring, but I'd also like to draw attention to the camera, its centred position makes it feel like you're never really able to see far ahead enough to anticipate where you're going in a given section of the map, and its perfect lock-on tracking probably exacerbated the issues felt with the jump speed.
Great little game, super cute, I loved the character, the stretch animation on the jump was awesome. The story was great and the music was perfect.
Lovely game. The controls were my only issue. I never got used to the jump strength, it felt like it accelerated too much compared to the rest of the animations, and like someone else said, I didn't know I could jump on enemies until I did it by accident, maybe make the first enemy something other than a worm? Worms don't make me thing "jump on me?!" But something like turtles do (for obvious legacy reasons.)
The game did crash on my twice while playing in the browser. I don't know if that's you or my computer. Probably my computer.
Great game though. Nice work.
This was very nice, I liked the style and general feel of it. The dialogs with the scarecrow worked very well. The art was great, and the parallax trees looked awesome. If I could add anything to it, it would be to make cursor keys and control keys work for move/jump in addition to the current controls.
The game was good, and the story was interesting.
The story was well-integrated into the game, and the theme is included very directly.
The controls did take a little to get used to. And I didn't know I could jump on enemies until I did so by accident.
But overall, I did have fun.
