Fantastic entry! The art is really great, the sprite style works nicely with the ragdoll-physics and the other visual effects (I especially like the torch particles and the time machine activation effect. Sound fx and music are top notch, and the game's good fun to boot. Well done!
Nice graphics and feel to the game, though it also felt a bit clunky. I included it in part 2 of my Public Domain Jam 2 compilation video series, if you would like to check it out :) https://youtu.be/Zm3F461UAZo
Thanks for the feedback guys! Glad to hear y'all are enjoying it! I went ahead and fixed the Install Instructions, so thanks for that Norbez!
I found that if I just held down the mouse button I could windmill the torch around constantly, which made it pretty satisfying to kill the morlocks. I enjoyed this game.
This was so much fun :) Loved the art style on both background and character sprites, and how the Morlocks altered in size and ragdolled on death. I loved the look of the Eloi too, poor things. The physics / destructibles were fun to play with, and rolling a boulder onto a pile or Morlocks was more satisfying than expected. Having the Keys / Morlocks / Eloi change location might help with replayability if desired. I'd love to see a little extended version of this where you interact with the Eloi outside the caves before facing off against the Morlock :)
Technically, switching the camera from left to right on mouse felt a little distracting.
I love the artwork! Fun and stylish game. Well done.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention: the game wouldn't run at first, so I moved the application outside the data folder and clicked it from there; it worked. May want to fix that. Sorry I didn't mention that before.
Fun and I really liked the art style - the character design especially is humorous but still evocative of the characters. Great fun and a nice take on the story.
This certainly was an interesting one. Let me first say that I haven't beat the game yet, but I still found it pretty neat! Though the Time-Traveler's sprite was hilariously creepy to me, with legs that faced forward when he walks to the side. When I crouch, it seems he's in the fetal position. Awkward.
Anyway, this has been fun so far. However, I do have one complaint: killing the Morlocks is hard! There was one segment when I assumed you wanted me to kill one with a boulder, but the landscape was made that the boulder could tip in either direction . . . and I pushed it the wrong way, down into a straight hole.
I mostly avoided the Morlocks (again, haven't beaten the game yet), and I've found one key. Nice work showing us the number of keys in the beginning.
I'm going to go beat this game. Really like this so far!
(btw, also in this jam, w/ HummingBird Haunting. Check it out? I'm eager for feedback: norbez.itch.io/hummingbird-haunting)
