Got some Lost Highway vibes from that! Awesome haha! The game is a bit rough around the edges but you can tell it was made with passion :) I feel like the ice cream truck feels like a missed opportunity though, seems like such a random addition it's weird nature for a horror game should of been used a bit more!
Solid effort though :)
Thank you playing and for the feedback! And thanks for the really nice compliment, I'm so glad you liked some of the atmosphere of the game even though it is unfinished! I agree with you that the truck was underused, I will work on that in the future and try to make it fit in with the tone of the game better if I expand on this idea! It might be partly because there were a bunch of gameplay mechanics I planned using the truck but I had to remove them since I ran out of time lol. Thank you again for the feedback and the compliments!
Unfortunately lighting and invisible walls was holding progression back a little much. Didn't seem to know where to go.
The initial cutscene and concept are really good just would like it to be more accessible. Will check again closer to submission period is over and have another go.
Thank you for the comment! Please feel free to tell me which sections you got stuck at and I can tell you where to go. I do wish I did better in guiding the player. I tried to add the glowing balloons as a guide for where to go. In the first level, progress is restricted until you pick up the flashing key, and then you drive in one direction (since there is no map outside of the road I had to block the roadsides and other sections). In the second map, you drive forward until you're blocked by boulders, and then after the house section can find the truck in the darkness by activating the lights with "c" (I think the truck is directly forward from where the character is facing when you spawn after the house). From there you drive forward in the direction the truck is already pointing until you see the lights spawn and the radio voice is heard. In the final map after the diner I tried to add spotlights to guide the player. The darkness and invisible walls hide the fact that I didn't make a proper open-world map lol, unfortunately at my skill level and with how the game is made I might not be able to redesign it much, but I can explain in the comments how to progress for any section. I am planning some fixes so I will update the description if I change anything to help make progress easier. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
I've been back and found the key this time and finished the experience. I can see what you was going for and there was some cool moments I just feel the pacing is a bit slow and the lighting to dark. However the van based mechanics was really good and the first surprise was also very good with the banging and the mystery. Maybe could of been pushed further reappearing later on like maybe the bike being outside the cabin as you approach.
Enjoyed the play through and individual story beats but would like it all to flow smoother and brighter.
Thank you for finishing it and for letting me know which parts you liked! That's a great suggestion with the bike appearing at the house, that would've been cool and creepy! And I will definitely work harder on pacing and lighting in the future, maybe for a full version of this game. Thank you again for the comments and suggestions!
