Won at life, it ruined my hands.

There's a big problem with the music, it loops sooooo early. Besides, those mountains look like made of salt (?

Loved it  10/10

autorun getting over it. 10/10 would ragequit again.

but in all seriousness the distinction between tap and hold is too small. it recognizes a "hold" far too soon. especially with a mechanical keyboard pretty bad.

AKA CIrno keeps getting concussions from bumping her head into ceilings and walls.

I really appreciate the polish brought to the gameplay:
I'm impressed by how the camera is perfect and the gameplay without any bugs. If there were any, that would have ruined everything!
Even more appreciated is how the path clearly tells which way to go, and where not to fall.

It's a simple yet difficult, fair game, and the challenges across the maps are varied!

Developer

Thank you.

I had a really bad bug before release that if you hit the corner of a jump you would land on the ground but bounce off of the wall due to the collision code.
There's also not so much a bug, but an unintended use of mechanics in the tight sections if you jump really late into the coyote time you'll bounce off the hole's wall. It definitely looks like a bug.

Yeah... it can be kind of frustrating.

Hey, this was really fun! I really liked the challenge structure here. I appreciate how friendly the design is, too. There's so many points where you can make a slight mistake and it sets you up for failure, but you have a brief window to save yourself if you maintain a cool head. Really good rage game design, at a "scale" that works perfectly for the time you had to make it for the game jam. Very smartly designed. After 20 minutes or so I turned off the music and turned on my own tunes, but I can't hold that against ya. And the use of theme... Scale... yeah, I sure am scaling this mountain!!! Innovative. Fun.

People in my stream chat were saying "why does cirno not simply fly up." Stupid question. Because that's not how the sport works. Why don't people in football simply carry the ball into the goal? She's skating because it's more fun that way. As the Touhou Spell Bubble story mode establishes, Cirno is a gamer, after all.

However, even though I liked Cirno's Not So Ice Day, I do have to give the Writing category a 1/5, because you could have Written "Getting Cirnover It" as the title, and didn't

Thank you for trying out the game. Glad you had fun.

I watched your VOD after seeing this comment earlier.

I didn't think Esc as an exit button would cause as much issue as it did. Really sorry about that. I thought it would be nice to have an exit button, but I forgot that the Escape Key is fairly common as a pause button too. I'm also really glad you found that early and didn't do it 20+ minutes in. I hope other people aren't doing that either.

I definitely should have added more break areas in a few areas. There were only like 4 or 5 of them and they would not have take away from the challenge if I place them well.

The camera moving during pause was supposed to be a little QoL for when you're falling and the level was being obstructed by a blind jump or something similar.

"Getting Cirnover It" is a really good name. I went with the name I chose because before knowing if I wanted to partake in the Jam I thought of "Cirno's Not So Ice Day" and that made me want to make a game with that name.

Most of the time I ended up trying to negotiate with the input so it gives me a short jump.
Most of the time, it doesn't.
The woes of blue switches I guess.

Developer

Thank you for playing.

My apologies. I didn't know different keyboards types would have such an impact on the gameplay until it was close to the initial end of the jam.
I thought about having the option of two different inputs for jumps in development, but thought the single button added more challenge when panicking. Might go back after the Judging period to add some Quality of Life improvements.

This game is really good at making you rage. Unfortunately I'm not a big fan of rage platformers but I appreciate hoe intentionally evil the level design is. Had to quit after 20 minutes because I just kept getting sent back to the beginning.

If the 2 jump heights were separate buttons this game would be a little less frustrating.

Developer

Thank you for playing.
I was thinking about adding the option of two jump buttons, but ultimately didn't go with it as I thought having the one button control would add to the challenge due to inputting the wrong type of jump if one didn't have a cool head in panic scenarios.

I didn't account for some keyboards having issues with tap versus hold though which having two jump buttons would fix.
