I really liked the concept, but I think a lot of people might have missed it since there is no hint inside the game - only on your itch.io page. Getting stronger on death is nice, right up my skill alley.
Cool idea, cool entry. :)
At first, I was concerned that the game was broken because my shots fired didn't seem to do anything to the enemies. But then I realized it takes multiple hits! I suspect that some feedback was missing and would suggest adding something to show players that the enemies are taking damage, such as holes appearing in their bodies, them recoiling from the blow and then continuing to come towards the fire, or a goo/blood splatter decal being added to the ground.
I also do not understand how this game fits the theme of the jam.
Regardless, great job making this game in so little time! The controls work well, and I really like the little bit of animation on the fire that we are meant to protect.
Pretty cool concept and I like the art. It maybe became a bit too easy too quickly.
Love the look of the game and the lighting effects. This game could really benefit from some audio. Also It would be interesting if more enemies spawn in over time. You could probably keep playing this game forever when each bullet one shots an enemy and there are only 3 of them. Also could probably add to the gameplay if the enemies harmed the player in some way. Maybe stun him instead of kill him. Still for a little over 3 hours the game looks great and plays well.
Oh boy! I love games!
An okayish twist, but only because the name "Fire Man" implies somebody who stops fires. Protecting a campfire is more of a gameplay objective that you'd see elsewhere. Wish it had some audio, and the game showed that you were getting stronger, because that first go through would just annoy everyone who plays it if they don't read the description.

Nice approach to the theme, but I think there should be more clear impact that you gain some power when you die, like a short glow up of player or slimes start leaving like larger splashes when defeated with more power... Overall a pretty solid game :D
was it made in scratch
yes
