The title and premise are brilliant
This is a really nice retro style game, with a simple but well designed mechanic. I couldn't tell if the different colored squids meant anything (were red ones hard to kill? Do they have more speed or power?). The pixelated graphics and audio are good additions. Good use of color, which isn't too distracting. It would be cool to have powerups that you can unlocks, like speed boosts or slashes, but that would be outside the scope of the 3 hours. Pleasant experience :3
Thanks for playing! The blue squid is a lot faster than the red one, that was the only difference. I also think one of the squids was bugged and didn't have a sprite, so there might just be one that is impossible to see... Powerups would be cool, I had originally hoped to make this a level-based game where you have to protect different parts of the town, but all my time was consumed by the squid pathing... NEXT TIME :)
The game doesn't really seem to fit the theme, but it's still pretty fun.
Thank you for playing! I interpreted the theme as "Something you could play in 5 minute intervals" but now looking at what everyone else made I see I was a bit off lol.
Love the visuals and the gameplay is actually fun. I can't recognize any relation to the theme but I don't even like the theme so all is well.
For a three hour jam i find the game very impressive and has a nostalgic vibe to it. It is easy to understand, overall i think it is a 7/10.
