Nice fast-paced adventure game.  And the art style is fitting.  This concept has a lot of potential.

My only critique:  I wish some screens (like the fight results and death screen) held for longer so the player can understand what is happening.  Also some sounds and particle effects would bring this game to life!

I have two complaints, but other than those the game feels like the beginning of an absolute banger oldschool game!

Issue 1 is the fact that combat goes way to fast (sometimes even in a frame) and it is really hard to understand how it works, during the few times it does not skip. Maybe an explanation in the description? IDK.

“Issue” 2 is that forests on full HP seem irrelevant, as other than the small chance of finding something cool, they do nothing for you, which the other tile already does as well, and gives you money otherwise.

A small “YOU DIED” or soemthing screen that is skipabble with the one button would be also nice, cuz sometimes you can skip the fact if you are not paying that much attention.

With some expansion, refinement and sound effects, I can see a really cool game shaping out from this! Well done! Enjoyed my runs, died at level 27.

I liked how you used this mechanic, and I think the timer helped give me a sense of choice BUT also keep the urgency. I also feel like the overall UI was easy to understand and displayed everything nicely.

And congrats on coming back to game jams! I also took a bit of break, so it was nice to try to organize and toss something together for trijam.

Thank you for your kind words.

It's really nice to be back :-) I took this jam as a kind of weekend coding, planning and creative exercise. It's nice that it doesn't take too much time. I will try to participate whenever possible to keep practising.
