Really dig the interpretation + the VVV inspiration, it gave a nice feel and uniqueness to the game! Level felt hard, but never impossible. Graphics were clean and polished, so did the sound effects!

Really nice and short entry! Well done!

I didn’t, I stayed up late for those! x) thank for checking them and the game

Thank you for the kind words, gonna fix the contras issue asap.

Thank you so much for playing through and for the kind words!

Overall a nice little entry that utilizes the theme well. The gameplay loop is satisfying and the intro is funny and well made.

Gameplay wise the rocks felt a bit “weird” to me in the sense that they seemed like falling but not really doing anything else, did I miss something with that?

Also, sound levels, please double check your audio levels before publisinhg! Atm 15 on the leaderboard!

Cool interpretation of the theme and overall a nice bullethell that I enjoyed playing through. Couple notes:

  • Sound effects are nice on the base, but when picking up things and when the triangle bosses are firing multiple lasers (so it seemed on overlapping plays), it becomes WAAAAY to loud to be comfortable.

  • Respawning under a downward travelling “piston” wall thingy feels bad as you can get stuck in a semi-death-loop.

Otherwise I feel like the game is at a nice place, patters are cool, altough last boss felt little underwhelming with all the power you gave to the player. Overall I enjoyed it, nice entry.

Super wholesome game, I wasn’t ready for the feelings when I started it!

Puzzles felt nice (after I remembered that you can rotate, my bad on that) and the story to back it up is charming!

Kinda wish there was more to it, could spend hours on games like this.

Graphically it hits home as I really like the rough “pencil/crayon” like brushes in art and the splash arts are amazingly executed, well done!

Background track is also a beautiful piece, I could gaze at the sky for hours playing it. Amazing job!

Super cozy and delightfull entry for the gamejam! The looks are amazing and the told story is relatable I think to everyone, even more so who struggle with focus.

Loving the cute minimalist look of the room, and the background jingle is calm enough to help the story unravel!

Well done!

Suprising interpretation of the theme for the jam, that I’d have never thought of!

Gameplay is satisfying all it needs is a little background track (and comet varations for longevity? idk brainstorming).

Comets are coming at varied enough patters that you need to keep your focus, missed a few due to blinking, but that is on me! Always a pleasure to find another PICO-8 game on jams! Well done!

Gamemode 1: 9.08 Gamemode 2: got to 53

Really well done!

Really well done!

Really nice short little puzzle game, well done! At first I was confused on the Y level speration a bit, after the first water column, things snapped in place.

Webbuild full screen seems to miss almost 2 columns of map from each side, (16:10 monitor), which was kinda weird. Took me a while to realise when I didn’t seem to be able to progress.

Kinda sad that I don’t see more comments on here, this is an amazing puzzle game for sure! The first few levels are easy, getting you into the mood and how things work then projection and spell formation just absolutely demolish your mind!

I kinda wish there was a way to turn off the crt filter as on the long run my brain just doesn’t like it (simply graphics did nothing on the web build), because atm that is the only thing keeping me from playing this game more, really well done! (escape kinda breaks the webbuild, instead of going back to the menu, or closing the currently open dialog)

I really enjoy the idea of spell combos, casting things with user input, shameless plug for Lina: Suika Hunt a game of mine which also relies on fast directional input, and let’s not forget Helldivers 2 with it’s strategems

Unlocking new spells, learning what they do, trying to figure out and outcombo an enemy is satisfying and you feel more and more powerfull over the run.

Graphicall the game looks really good for a jam game, it has some pixel scaling mis-match but nothing offputting. Spell effects are cool, and many mechanics to learn. Music and sounds effects are nice.

The only thing that hinders this game at the moment are the few bugs left here and there, some small, some bigger, but after those are ironed out, I can see a nice future ahead of this game! BUT! I persisted through and didn’t regretted it, had a blast shredding other wizards with Sandstorm!

As a fan of dice rollers and tactical games, this really speak to my sweet spot!

The overall idea I love, the biggest gripe as of now that I have is the inability to redo actions.

One cool thing that would be nice, and most dice games have a spin on it, is to manipulate the roll dice somehow, even if at the cost of spawning a new enemy on the rolled row. That way I can push my luck and feel cool when it happens!

Nice idea and execution, please do tell if you plan on following through with more updated!

Highscore: 374.

Please make sure tha before publishing you check the volume level of you game. It was REALLLLY loud, like the level where it hurts loud.

Overall I like the idea of a 1 tower tower defense game, the style looks okay (although the toolbar stands out), and sometimes buildings stand in the way of spells (which I know is the point, but still) kinda do small little irk over the gameplay that add up to minor inconvenience that hampers my enjoyment.

The idea is nice, and the game is okay to play for a few runs, so on that regard, well done with the entry!

I kinda wish purple balls would be more tighter in the circle or more numerous as the area seems to be not well covered, but on avarage I liked the spells.

Question: What does the repair do gameplay wise? Do I get bonus points in the end if most things are repaired?

By any chance, is this inpsired by OlliOlli?

Really enjoyed my time with this, even though I was really bad at the tricks. I kinda wish there was a bit more to the stage, sometimes It just felt empty but I guess you could set up speed spells on those parts for speedruns.

Tricks were nice, having to release and re-press jump is kinda tricky to get through, and I kinda don’t like how you cannot exist a grind, but those are not offensive at all.

Intro was cool, overall nice idea, would be interested in some followups if that is a plan! Could be a nice full fledged game in the future!

note: got an error on game load abouzt fulll screen denied

Really well put together game, and I would not worry about the half finishes sketched, those, in my opinion, are always nice to see!

The game stands as a unique spin on the “papers please” genre, the only “slight” issue I have is that sometimes to many traits can change at once, so you cannot really reliably guess from what you seen to try help push the score.

Other than the known bugs, after failing a run, you cannot start a new because in-game the Soul powers don’t register clicks at all.

Music and visuals were nice, I kinda wished that we had a sketch background instead of the style clashing one that we have, but alas, time is short when you work, I know.

Overall really nice entry, managed to win on my second run. Well done!

This project kinda hits home for be a bit as I have Lina: Suika Hunt which is quite similar to this!

Overall I like the idea, since I made something like this myself, I think it just missing a few things to be really juicy.

First of course is some sound effects for getting hort, shooting down something. After that maybe some particles to actually shoot something and to create some explosion-y effect for the enemies.

One thing that was not clear on first run either is the arrows on top of the enemy heads, but once you realize, it is visible. I might have made them a bit bigger for better visiblity, but to me they were okay!

Cool idea, give it some polish and bam, full game out of a jam project!

I wasn’t prepared to be taken on an emotional journey, really well done! Amazing music and super visuals, really well done! Feel super cozy and heart warming. (I almost want to look into creating one like this as I’m really moved and inspired).

Amazing job!

Glad you enjoyed playing through it, good to read that it invoked the feeling I was aiming at.

Sounds clues and made, just forgot to add them … my bad on that part.

The level is gonna end, there is purposefully no HP bar for the wizards , so they feel more erie, but they do have visual indication on HP levels. Losing the staff or an eye as they get lower and lower.

wizards health visual clues

Tutorial sadly I ran out of time to do, would love to include a better one in the future, good point!

Thanks for trying it out even though it is not your genre, and for the kind words. The game indeed get’s hectic and chaotic, even for me, but it was one of the design goals to achieve kinda panicky-chaos state in the player at later phases, just so that the power of the wizards get through.

I do have ideas for future updates, will see if I will get to them eventually (planning or more Wizards for ex, and having the game choose randomly 3 of them at the start).

Gorgeous looking pixel art, which sometimes seem top miss the proper filters in the webbuild, nonetheless they are well executed.

Love the clear priority on the kitten petting animation compared to everything else!

The base idea of the sound-echo-location thingy is cool and I enjoy it how it ties to accessibility. Trailer seems really nice, it is a shame that in the webbuild intro-outro cutscenes are not animation at all.

Game was a nice experience, as someone who doesn’t have motor or other issues I felt that enemies could be a bit more proactive (chasing from further away, aggro-ing on taking damage), and maybe an enemy you have to dodge projectiles from could help the actual non-walking gameplay.

Overall it is a nice experience, well done! Would love to hear if you plan on expanding in it in the future, or if it is gonna stay like a jam project. Well done you all!

I’m really glad that the theme and difficulty is enjoyable! Thanks for the style compliments, it took some refinement to get it where it is.

Thank you! I’m glad you like the power curve, playtesting was totally worth then!

One of the best area fighters in PICO-8 and amazingly fine tuned and fun entry for the jam! Theme is of course on point and plus points for the cool lore we have in the background.

Enemy mages feel unique and fun to play around, and the boss is on just another level!

Visually it is clean and well made, sound effects I enjoy, the only thing I miss here is a little background music (even if just a simple base beep-boop nothing layered) would feel amazing! Fav entry so far!
