Wanted to share here as well, we came up with 3 classes ourself, can go back and think about stuff. Except the cleric we played with others.

Cleric:

  • Damage: 1d6
  • HP: 20
  • Once per combat, restore 1d6+3 hp to an ally.

Archeologist:

  • Damage 1d6+1
  • Hp: 18
  • Once per combat, you can roll d6. On a 6, roll an event die!

Our Necromancer:

  • Damage 1d6+1
  • HP: 18
  • On first kill each combat, roll d6. on 5-6 Summon a Skeleton (hp: 3, dmg: 2)

Had a lot of fun on stream with it, first part of my very first experience is up!

Once again, I’m really loving the game, cannot wait to have a good chance at ng+! The whole glowup is amazing, and I’m super glad I was part of play testing, and for the fact that there are many new changes I can explore!

Quick question, can we do a fantasy setting, where the vehicle is a carriage, or just a mount of some kind of animal?

(1 edit)

An absolutely amazing game that fueled plenty rage from me! Oozes with style and surely will become a known gemstone in the Pico-8 catalogue!

It is a neat tech demo, if you go further with it, would be interested in the game that would emerge from it! Detection seemed neat and precise! Well done!

My only “gripe” with this is the absence of some kind of indication for which log is the nearest to me, and also, sometimes I feel like the detection of me holding the button didn’t really go through, not sure why that would happen.

Otherwise, neat idea, I don’t think I saw something like this at the jam yet! Well done!

The janky collision detection almost made me quit, but the music made me stay! Pretty interesting, not sure if the end is the door on the first stage, if so, I got it, if not, something is not loading.

What is with the goat Bob?

At least you didn’t made the mistake of the feature not working, sadly mine is bricked atm T_T you have to reload the page, or know about the builtin enter menu inside PICO-8 to reload the cart.

Kinda agree with zellkoss here, the fact that I can just mash up my stats to hundreds/thousands kinda defeats the purpose but with some kind of limit, you have an interesting idea for a game to be developed further! Well done!

Action packed entry, personally not the fan of move and shoot at the same time, cuz I’m getting motion sick, but those who not could enjoy this for a while! Well done!

For a 1 button adventure we got surprisingly many button on that board! Neat little game, audio level could have been a tad lower! Nice little interaction you added! Well done.

Amazing looking game with well executed audio an gameplay! Kinda surprised to see two “run around in a circle” games, did not expect that! Well done team!

Super cute presentation with a neat idea together makes an amazing entry! The speedup maybe a little dramatic, but it makes it fun I guess. Biggest loop was 29 and wen for “one more” way to many times! Well done!

Played the web build, not sure if that is the problematic thing, but to me the button mechanics felt janky, misinterpreting the actual input quite often.

Otherwise the game idea is neat, and good to see dev venture into Godot! Nice touch with the different shapes as well for colorblind accessibility!

I’m not sure if the background moving faster than the obstacles was a deliberate design choice, but it can lead to dizziness/motion sickness for sure.

Personally for me this is kinda ignoring the theme, could have been an always moving bird, that turns around on walls, pressing one button changes the direction immediately, which be a nice fit.

Graphically and audio wise it was nice, maybe just a bit too loud.

The game idea was okay, kinda wish there was something ramping up (speed, number of obstacles, more difficult obstacles etc…) other than that, it is a nice entry.

Amazing little entry with a charming look and atmoshpere, my only “complaint” is the frustratingly precise check against the circle and the line, there is quite a lot ot learn there.

Also felt like the fish catalog came up, even though I did not hold my button. Other than these, wonderful job!

Gotta say, this is a really unique idea, which could be explored further for sure. Played way more jam games than I’d like to admit, and this was the first one that dabbled in Morse code.

Only thing I’m missing here for a banger game is maybe a timer so I can scorechase against said timer. The ending cracked me up, not gonna lie.

that’s it

Thank you so much! Always nice to hear from other PICO-8-ers!

Congratulations on your first jam and on your first itch game! Looking forward to the future of the project as I’M always down for more fishing games inside PICO-8 (or anything really).

Well done for your first jam! With some visual polish and maybe a beep-boop in the background it will be a cool little game!

I’m really glad you think so! I feared the UI was to vague in some parts, but nice to hear it was considered clean! And always my pleasure if I can inspire someone to dev/join a jam! Your entry was also a banger!

Super impressive looks, nailed the noise/pixelation effects! The game was fun and enjoyable, only part which “irked” me is the transitions when you move from bottom to top on a scene, for me it was quite hard to get a grasp on where I would end up, and felt like it broke the flow a bit, cuz I had to wait.

Other than that, super solid entry in 2 hours, amazing job! 3200!

Thank you for the kind words!

The core idea and system feels and sounds interesting, sadly at this point I feel like this more of a tech demo, than a full game. Black dots unexplained, sometimes the hook just dissapeared, and maybe just a line where the hook “generally” goes would have been cool.

If you take the core that you have and polish it up, it would be an interesting “platforming” game here.

Amazing little experience, the mazes look okay, although it would be interesting to see a few with loops in them. IIRC those are much harder to create, but also solve because there is not a clear one route solution.

Gameplay wise I kinda wish there was a small delay reset on the direction change, because my poor keyboard got mashed to bits! Some audio also would have been cool!

Not sure if this game was an endless score chaser with a resetting score, or just had way to many loops, quit around loop 5 or six. If it is a score chaser do not reset the counter, if it is a game with an end, I feel like this was streched too far without any addition to the already existing gameplay loop. Maybe faster clouds, clouds in the middle or things like that.

Visually the cutesy/kawaii theme was on spot with all the little expressions, and audio wise the background music was a bit too in the background compared to the “sparkle” sound of the start moving. Otherwise pretty neat entry to the the jam! Well done!

Simple but well executed game for the jam, my only “complaint” is it would have been nice to have a speed up difficulty curve and/or have enemies spawn from more angles other than the straight left or right!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I really messed up the restart function somehow, I could have sworn that I tested it, alas it is stupid bug.

Drafting both for new abilites and upcoming opponents were part of the gdd but I have already overscoped sadly. In the future!

I have two complaints, but other than those the game feels like the beginning of an absolute banger oldschool game!

Issue 1 is the fact that combat goes way to fast (sometimes even in a frame) and it is really hard to understand how it works, during the few times it does not skip. Maybe an explanation in the description? IDK.

“Issue” 2 is that forests on full HP seem irrelevant, as other than the small chance of finding something cool, they do nothing for you, which the other tile already does as well, and gives you money otherwise.

A small “YOU DIED” or something screen that is skipabble with the one button would be also nice, cuz sometimes you can skip the fact if you are not paying that much attention.

With some expansion, refinement and sound effects, I can see a really cool game shaping out from this! Well done! Enjoyed my runs, died at level 27.
