Great entry,  i wasn't able to finish the game as my memory apparently isn't that great haha. I liked how polished it was for a 3 hour entry great work!

I think at this point of development you can exploit the game pretty easily by just clicking the tiles on the wall :D

Thanks a lot for playing :)

Really solid game. Took me a second to understand the gameplay, but once I did, it was a cool idea and well executed I especially like the visuals.

Thanks. I just searched for some pixelart in the internet & pretty much copied it pixel by pixel, using a color-palette. Do you have any advice on making the controls/gameplay more obvious to a player?

Difficult question :D

I would explain what the renegade mechanic is, and what it does (I think it just resets?).

I would also try to give some explanation as to what the other symbols mean. Gold and people make sense, but I am unsure what the dark pieces are (I think they serve the same purpose).

I think an easy and quick way to do this (given the time limit of the jam), would be just a simple pop-up on first load that explains the goal+features, a sentence each. You'd probably want to do it differently without the time limit, but I think it would be enough for this.

Once again, great game :-)

The renegade- or deserter-mechanic means someone is walking a way you didn't dictate and therefore is killed by you. Every time someone is killed (by you or the labyrinth), the way has to be found new and therefore resets.

I wanted to show this more clearly by shooting a projectile from the crown to the clicked field or even have small humans walk around the path and die, but like you said, time was short :D

The dark pieces represent grass and just do nothing. I implemented them because I found it to be unrealistic every step would be a win or fail.

I guess I will at least add these rules to my descriptions.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

First click starts the game, so if you want music, you might have to click twice. The button gets transparent when music plays.
