On the web build I couldn't get past the opening menu, but thank you for participating - I love a good Tornado!

Developer

That is a shame, I hope you can try the Windows build
I will be looking into it.

Good theme interpretation! If the game was just a little bit more polished it would be great. A lot of work for a week though, good job.

Very funny "toy" here, not that much to do other than getting bigger and bigger, but nonetheless fun and promising game concept.

I have a couple of suggestions for expanding the game (other than the obvious ones, like polishing and adding sound effects):

  1. For now, the "throwing" of blue objects does not have a clear feedback (sound could also help with this) nor a clear purpose other than breaking red objects (which then again have not a clear purpose either), plus also, the number of blue objects you have consumed is not clearly visible when those objects are also allowed to enter the tornado and float inside it (which obviously occludes those objects), so maybe you could try making them only orbit around your tornado instead of going inside it like the white objects do;
  2. Add some mouse/camera sensitivity options (I found the camera sensitivity to be too high, so preferences for players who prefer to have a lower sensitivity could help);
  3. Add some elements that interact with the tornado in funny ways, for example NPCs that have funny reactions to the tornado, or elements that have animations when hit by the tornado (kind of like in "Untitled Goose Game").
  4. Add some quests, objectives to complete, so that the player actually feels like there are goals to the game rather than only expanding your tornadod (again, like in "Untitled Goose Game");
  5. Make objects outline clearer, maybe adding a glow instead of an outline, since sometimes you can't really see outlines and their color because they render very thin on the screen;
  6. Having objects I absorb/consume stay around the tornado, orbiting around it, could also be a nice touch to see the "mayhem" you have caused on the map and give the player an even stronger sense of progression, complementing the expansion of the tornado.

The gameplay is fun, and I think the game only needs a good gameplay loop for it to become a nice "snack" game to play, similar to games like "Katamari", "Donut County" or "Untitled Goose Game" (as I mentioned above).

Good job on the game, keep the good work up!

I couldn't agree more with you; that whole jam was a learning experience for me. I will be trying to implement some changes and add some of the fun that is missing in the game, along with some of your suggestions, if possible... I hope, lol!

Thanks for the great review!

I really like the art style as well as seeing all the things that I picked up swirling around the tornado. My only complaint is that, while turning, the camera would quickly snap.

Developer

That's an issue I will be looking into. Besides that, thanks for the comment! The majority of the models are from kenney.nl/assets ; he has great assets. I did not have the time to add his credits, but I will be doing so soon.

The game is cool both in style and gameplay, I hovered in it for about 10 minutes XD (can you give me a rating? I'd appreciate it).

Developer

Thanks for the review! The style credit goes entirely to Manuel Gabarrón. In the future, I will be fixing some things that I feel are missing in the game, so please check back in 2 or 3 weeks. ;)

I thought that this was a fun idea, but the UI to start the game broke when I first entered the game. I also think that a progressive scaling of the tornado's speed and size would be a better approach than a rigid scaling and that there isn't much to do after you devour the town. I think that a level system might be nice, but I understand that its hard to do in such a short amount of time. If you can, I'd really appreciate it if you'd check out my game.

Developer

Yeah, we had some problems during the planning, and some features are missing in this build. I’m sorry for the bugs; that’s on me. I will be fixing them in the future. Besides that thanks for the review

Fun idea! Adding some obstacles like enemies to the game would be a good idea. Without that it gets little stale.

Developer

Don't say it twice! I hope they will be here in 2 to 3 weeks.

A really fun idea! Keep working on it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, that's the plan! I hope you can play the game again in 2 or 3 weeks!

A good tornado game that has a lot of potential and works very well with the 'Expanding' theme. it reminds me of Katamari Damacy.

that being said, after consuming the town, there isn't really much else to do, the tornado doesn't seem to get big enough to consume the buildings and there isn't much other places to go. maybe have some different levels and an objective as to how big you should be would improve the game greatly, but in its current state, the game lasts only for less than 3 minutes of enjoyment.

Developer

That's so on point! Katamari was our go-to reference. Some features are missing in this build, and I think they would bring a lot of fun to the game. If we can, they will be added in 2 or 3 weeks.

The town had no chance >:)

>:) That was what I was hoping to hear. Thanks for the review!
