This is one of the only games I’ve seen with two handed gun mechanics, great job on that! Had a blast walking around and decimating spiders lol
If you find some time this weekend, please check out our game “Starship Minis” and leave a comment to let us know what you think! https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2021/rate/1145490
Thanks and congrats on completing the jam!!
Those two handed gun mechanics were smooth as butter! Really fun to hold and turn around in my hand. I had a lot of trouble finding the spiders on the first wave. I just stopped and waited for a minute just to see if they would come to me, eventually they did. The third wave was much better with more spiders but not enough ammo! lol. One of the spiders also jumped at me and yeeted itself into oblivion lol. I wish I could see the sun in the sky or some other kind of skybox or some more landmark locations on the planet to get my bearings better.
I originally had a real skybox and not just the solid color but it made you feel really motion sick if you could tell you were upside down. Havng a solid color just made it so you always felt upright
I thought this one was fun to play and the simplicity was nice. I liked the two-handed shotgun mechanics, and thought the visuals were good. I often had to hunt the spiders, so maybe increasing their speed when they're far away, or having them burrow nearby once they disappear would be nice. You have a lot of options you can develop if you wanted to expand this one.
The little planet is very cool, I always did wonder what it'd feel like to quickly run around a planet like in Outer Wilds but in VR :)
Had some issue with the shotgun tilting and due to the lack of sights, the alignment has to be perfect between two controllers to line up the gun straight, which means for us camera based headset users, the occlusion becomes a bit of an issue for one of the controller, so between those two quirks I end up just hip firing it, which oddly made it even more fun.
Yeah there has been alot of problems with the weapon, i think its due to the planet system and the force not sampling in the current rotation
Would love to watch a little vlog or something of you covering the system you made here! I remember seeing those little videos of what looked like ping pong balls coming out of an SMG on the discord on day one..! Very cool indeed.
100% i would be more than happy to do that :) its so cool you remember that
Thanks for showing me your game, dude. I really like it so far and the world rotation looks so cool in VR. Looking forward to any future projects you come up with.
Loved the planet and visuals! I have just two pieces of feedback - make the spiders attack a house or something at first, not the player - I spent some time running around the planet looking for the last spider (and potentially running away from it). Also, for some weird reason, moving the left analog stick rotates the shotgun, which makes it uncomfortable to aim.
Love how you integrated physics into everything! (also spiders are terrifying...)
:) Thanks man
That fixed it! Really enjoy the kickback of the shotgun and how the curved world constantly keeps you on the lookout.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed. Any pointers
Fixed physics glitch (hopefully)
Strange, my controllers work fine in the Menu/Restart scenes. But, in the actual game scene, my hands aren't showing. Is anyone else having this issue?
I will look into it, what device are you using ?
Nevermind, switch to 120hz and it will work fine. Fixing now
