I’m just going to go ahead and say it for you…you were robbed! This was way more fun/creative than the ratings reflected! Is there a way I can follow your dev projects? Would love to see what you come up with in the future <3

Awww thank you so much! Seriously you are very very kind, and I'm really glad you enjoyed my game. I'll make it my goal to participate in more game jams and start pushing projects here in itch.io .. this experience really hyped me up, and your comments made it even better :)

Also, congrats on your placement! definitely knew I'd see you at the top (:< hope to see you in another future game jam (or playing one of your games as a full-fledged published project someday!!)

Nice voice acting!

I loved being in that little world; the colour palette and low poly style was incredibly coherent and pleasing to the eye, while the voice lines were nice and gently delivered adding to the overall chill vibe.

I thought it was pretty funny that quite literally stabbing the fish with a metal stick was met with sass, but you did well to tie that back into the key narrative of the afterlife. A kind of sisyphean task.

Also, I can confirm that the game was running totally fine on my Rift S :)

Developer

Means a lot comming from someone who also made a narrative intensive game :) I'm very thankful that you enjoyed my little story.

By the way, I really tried playing your game but it seems its only compatible with oculus devices :( had hopes for it since its a .exe not an apk I need to load (as an oculus quest), but since it doesn't start SteamVR I don't really know what to do.. do you know if there is some alternate tool I could use or something I can do to play it with my HTC Vive?

Ah yes you're entirely right, alas I made it for Oculus D:
I may try to iron a few things out and release another version in that case I'll let you know.
It's one gripe I have with VR, how even all us PCVR folk can't play the same apps. That said OpenXR seems to be the way forward so definitely looking forward to using that more.

Also; I came across this app which lets you play Oculus games on a Vive in another comment, obviously don't need to go through the hassle this time but it may be worth giving a go if there are any oculus exclusives you wanna try :) [https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive]

Compared to the screenshots it seems like some stuff was missing. I was playing on Oculus Rift S and was missing the skybox, fishing line and other components. Not sure if I just didn't know or understand how to start the game correctly. I will get back to this at a later point still in near future to figure it out

Developer

Oh no! don't really know why the skybox wouldn't load :C however I can tell you that the game is really really simple so I don't know what other components wouldn't load. Also, the game offers you a harpoon so there's no fishing line! you just stab the fish and pick it up.. hope your able to try again later :)

Your game is a proof that polycount doesn't count, with very simple polygons you made a great game that feels fantastic and adorable!

This was really good, I didn’t think I’d enjoy getting sassed by a fish this much! I’m super into the narrative, and your skybox/environment

This game was an absolute riot! 10/10! The art was amazing, mechanics worked well, great animations, a storyline and progression that had me wanting to keep playing just to hear what that fish would say next! You’re incredibly funny, this game had a lot of heart and personality and was just a lot of fun! I could go on all day about it <3

If you find some time this weekend, please check out our game “Starship Minis” and leave a comment to let us know what you think! https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2021/rate/1145490

Thanks and congrats on completing the jam!!

(Apart from the learning experience and all of the fun) Your comment made all of the weekend struggle worth it. Thank you so much for your comment, you are very kind :)

The art for the fish, and the turtle is adorable! The voice acting is actually really enjoyable too. Great first effort. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! had my doubts about trying to do the voice acting for myself but had a lot of fun doing so anyway :) hope you enjoyed the story!
