Cute design. Well done with the level generation! Few things indeed to address.

All the money you have is only from the last run. It was frustrating to discover that you lose that money. When I had 4 skulls and 800 gold i had to go for another run so I had 5 skulls. That just felt weird

The corridors between rooms are too narrow. I don't know if that was the intended but this way there was no strategy with fighting. Which is shame because the charging mechanism is really nice

Lastly what were those things you can buy in level 7 and 8. I didn't felt difference

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

  • The thing with the gold indeed requires some fix so it's not useless when you don't have enough Deaths.
  • I suppose on the level 7 and 8 you have got to the shop chamber. It's nothing but food that restores some HP, and the more pricey the dish the more it regenerates. Currently, there is no difference in this chamber and these items' stats whether you got to the shop on level 8 or 20; there's no level progression at all in the game at the moment.
  • Thanks for pointing out the narrow corridors! I think the same, they should be wider.

Nice procedural generation it is really impressive. The only things is that you do not really know what all these items does.

Nice Game and fun to play !

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Actually, artifacts are just things you buy to complete the game, they don't have any other effect currently, and the shop chamber with food has dishes that only restore HP and do nothing else.

Wow using procedural generation is impressive :o  Using deaths as a currency is an interesting idea. The camera zoom when we draw our bow is so cool :D My feedback would be that after shooting the arrow camera zooms out instantly and that is uncomfortable it should be smooth :d Also the stairs sprite is on top of the player sprite you should change the layers :D Other than these small issues i would like to see this game with more content and more things to explore great job well done :D

Note:I would be happy if you could check out my game as well :d

Developer

Thank you for pointing these things out and for the support! I'll surely check your game out.

That was a blast! I'm really impressed by the procedural generation, all dungeons had a good layout and easy to find entrance :) Shooting and killing monsters was really satisfying - although I had to admit, I usually shot the from distance, where they didn't bother to spot and attack me :D

I felt like the experience from the game could be hugely improved by adding more content and differentiating the levels. Like one or two more enemy types, but the harder ones only starts to appear from dungeon 5/10? Maybe an option to buy some better equipment? I know, I know, it's a game jaw, you cannot do everything :D

The one thing that "hurt" me the most of a fact, that after artefact purchase I loose all my coins :( I had like 700 after the first run, bought the first artefact and boom, after entering the dungeon my coins counter stated 0. That prevented me from collecting coins "in advance" for further purchases. Also, the mechanics of deaths as a currency seems to have a little of unused potential, because I ended up entering the dungeon and getting killed as soon as possible to "grind deaths", but I don't know, maybe it's a difficulty issue?

Random thought: maybe you could earn a "Death Point" for every floor you completed in the moment of death? So dying in 2nd floor grants you 2 Death Points, but dying in 12th grants you 12 Death Points. I don't know if that would do the trick, just shooting in the dark ^^

But taking all of that whining aside, I really enjoyed the game and completed it with pleasure! Player mechanics (moving & shooting) felt really smooth and fun to use, visuals and sound were also really solid! Dynamic lightning with shadows really added extra layer of awesomness to the whole mix. Great job! :)

Thank you for your very descriptive critique. It wasn't whining, it was some wholesome feedback.

  • The coins are completely taken away upon starting a new run. Currently, it may seem only as the means to make the player try harder again, but I had some ideas that would solve the problem.
  • About these ideas, having more content would indeed help. I had an idea of having purchasable one-life long upgrades, so it would make sense to have more money than you actually need to proceed in the story (I mean, for buying those artifacts).
  • Man, the thing with the Death Points given respectively to the number of rooms you cleared is great. NO, THAT'S AMAZING!

Thank you for your time you've put into playing and reviewing. This feedback can even help the game evolve into something bigger than just a jam submission!

Its a nice game, it does get repetitive after a while but it has potential. The procedural generation is cool. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words about the potential! The game might evolve into something bigger...

Amazing! Please, can you make a full game out of that?

Developer

I'm glad you liked it that much that you would like it to be a whole game!

I might make a full-size game out of it, but I need to see people like the game. You can share my game with other people and ask them to leave feedback for me - it would really help me and I will greatly appreciate it.

Very nice, i like graphisms, music and the overall. And the procedural generation too.

Nice game, I played until level 21.  I had one issue with the  shop at level 18.. level 19 and level 20 were all shops..  It was quite easy to kill the enemies from the other room but quite funny.. Good job

Developer

Thank you for putting your time into playing and giving feedback! I appreciate it ^^

That's quite interesting that the shops do sometimes spawn one after another, even though there's a variable that sets the minimum needed amount of rooms cleared before the player gets to the next shop. I'll look into that, thanks for pointing that out.

Nice. I was playing on a laptop with a trackpad, so I quit before buying everything. I might have to come back later and finish the game when I have a mouse overall the game was very fun! I noticed some tearing in the tile map, but it was not too distracting. I loved the pause/unpause sound effect and feel haha probably spend like 2 minutes just pausing and unpausing.

Developer

Haha that's great you liked the pause/unpause sound so much xD

Also thanks for pointing out the bug with the tearing of the tilemap. I'll soon update the game and try to fix it.

Wow, i had too much fun playing this game! The Game Feel is good too!
I just had a few problems like enemies not damaging you (Mostly Slimes) but despite of that it was fun!

Great Job! :)

Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed your time playing it ^^

A really nice game, but feels like it doesn't live up to it's true potential. Some music that isn't ambience noises would've been nice, and just a few more gameplay elements, but otherwise, it's a Great game!

Developer

Thank you a lot for pointing these things out! I totally agree with you, the game could have more in it - in fact, I even planned on it having more content and features. However, I really enjoyed the final product.

Have a nice day ^^
