Well done! It's a nice game with some meaning in it. Some critique:

  • There must be a sound for picking an apple in the box - sometimes I came back with an apple still in my pocket because I didn't notice I hadn't put the apple
  • You should add some visual hint for when the player is in range to interact with something, e.g. for picking up an apple or when you are close enough to the surprise box
  • The music is fun but feels a bit odd. On the other side, I myself cannot really imagine what music would fit this game.

Nicely done!

Thank you for your feedback! I'm going to implement your ideas after the game jam!

I tried to create a melody that sounds like an old man's whistling while working. :D

This was really fun to play! I love the multitasking between bringing apples to the gift box and putting new ones in the trash. Made it to 60 apples gathered :)

Thanks! Congratulations! :D

Pretty fun mechanic! Had yellow apples stacked to the sky. I think what might make this even more fun is if the stack of apples could only reach a certain height, so for timing, you'd have to choose whether to gift the apple (gives you points) or give it to dog (no points, but keeps the round from ending... maybe the dog gets fat). That was the first thing that came to mind. Anyway, I liked it, good job!

Thank you! That's actually a pretty good idea!

Wow, great game! As others said, it took me a while to understand that I need to jump over the dog and press E (right mouse button) under the gift. But then it became good fun! It was hard to keep track of the falling apples and control the character as well, but that is a positive thing in this game! I love the music as well. Good job.

Thanks! Yes, I agree with you!

Heyho! I needed a while to understand it fully, but then, it was a very charming little game - had fun playing it! Maybe for next time, you could consider an ingame tutorial, this would smooth up the initial experience quite a bit.
Well done! Stay funky,
Dez

I really like this game! Your interpretation of the theme is really wholesome and the atmosphere is very soothing. The art is great and the gameplay is pretty simple to understand. Multitasking is a great idea and it was pretty challenging, but it was never frustrating. I don't know if this was because you coded it this way or I got lucky, but I think my golden apples kind of spawned in waves, which if you did code, is so incredibly clever. I think it would've been infinitely more frustrating if it was just constant apples, especially considering the travel time. I think the only thing is as you get further into the game, apples were falling faster, and my character could only move so fast so I couldn't keep up. I don't really know of a fix, but maybe you could add a powerup or something that allows you to carry more than one apple for some amount of time? Either way, this game was really fun and felt really polished. Great job! Oh, and my high score was 45.

Hey! I have some feedback for your game:

- On your next games, try making it more clear what I should do. Took me about 5 minutes to figure it out, even with a "tutorial".

- After you initially go to the present box moving becomes pretty much pointless. Maybe add something else to do?

- It feels unfair getting 2 or more yellow apples in a row. I recommend adding a variable that makes it impossible to get 2 yellow apples in a row. Say there is a 1/5 chance apples become yellow. Store the variable after you got the random number, if it is the same twice ( and that number is the yellow apple one ), get another random number.

High-score:
