Nice work! The music is good (I particularly liked the boss music) and the isometric / voxel look is stylish and clean. The map could perhaps do with a bit more decor, and some sound effects or visuals for hits would be nice. Overall it was a fun little game.
Thank you so much!
I had intended on going into sfxr to make up some sounds but never got to it sadly.
The music was made by a buddy of mine, UnplayablePixy. I've linked his Twitter over on the game page if you wanna follow his stuff. He also does artwork on occasion.
Thanks for giving the game a try!
I think there probably needs to be more direction on how to play this. I eventually figured it out, but it took a while. The graphics were nice and the music is catchy. I thought the level was a bit too big and empty and there were too few enemies. When you get all the gifts and a million people come charging in, I think that's more like what it should have been from the start. Good effort though!
Thanks for giving it a try!
This was my first stint in a game jam working with a team so it was hard for me to manage the game design with so many visions for what we wanted. I will work to improve the general approach we take as a team moving forward.
Maybe I'm just dumb but apart from running around and punching people I can't figure out what to do? I like the artstyle and it controls/runs just fine. But How Do Buy Gift?
Unfortunately we were unable to implement everything we wanted to do for this. The gameplay we were able to come up with in the end is to keep punching people in the mall for coins to save up for each gift on the list. There is a boss round once you get all four gifts. Gifts are purchased through the side stores on the northwest wall of the corridor.
We wanted to incorporate items you can get at the kiosks in exchange for XP, some random round modifiers, etc. We may still add these updates in a separate release from the jam after the fact.
Thanks for giving the game a shot!
Its a really good game
