I had fun with this game! I loved the art, the characters look so good! The music was fitting too, and I really liked the 'voice' sounds for the characters. It's pretty fun that there was two layers of the game--the mystery and defending from the wolf. I enjoyed both!
Here's some feedback if y'all continue to work on this:
- I didn't read the instructions closely enough--had no idea I could hide from the wolf's gaze, just thought it was hard. Still doable though (of course, I happened to have been hiding accidentally here and there without realizing it). It was a pretty fun challenge that added to the horror aspect of it, and I had to be very careful with my strategy of brewing potions.
- Early on, when I was brewing a potion I would sometimes click on the same potion again after I already made progress, so I'd lose the progress toward that potion. It felt a little frustrating for me when I did that. I think I just have a habit of spamming things extra times in games as a player. I can understand that happening when you want to switch potions, but when it's the same one I felt sad for getting in my own way.
- Had trouble finding some ingredients, but I was thankful that it didn't really impact my ability to progress. I think the ingredients reset between days or when you die? I died a lot so wasn't sure if it was that or just the night ending, but I was hoping they would carry over between days.
- I was pretty confused by the UI for potion selection for some reason (the icons in the bottom center). I guess after I made a potion the first time I thought I had 3 of them, and then there were times where I was confused about what potions I had. Minecraft might be a good frame of reference for this if you're interested in changing it?
- Super minor visual bug: the note paper on the alchemy table draws in front of the viewmodel potion in your hand
Overall, great job! It's awesome how much y'all got done for the game jam :)
