They do, but usually that ends up destroying them. At least... I think. Unless for some reasons, boars in particular turns Kerfur off instead of destroying him.
I saw it firsthand, can confirm they do destroy them, not deactivate them.
How strange. I have no clue what would be disabling Kerfur.
