Something different, yet not quite 😉

GAMEPLAY
It was something different to play in this jam, but also familiar. First of all: it is not bad to get inspired by another game and add your own twist to it but be aware that there’s a fine line between drawing inspiration and closely mirroring existing games. It does look a lot like "We become what we behold" and you added some features and that is good. Always try to add your own twist and style to a game. But it still does resembles that game a lot and that game is also open source so you want to avoid that people think you used that code in a little game jam.

That being said it was and is a fun concept of course and adding different figures and the headlines and a kind of story is a nice addition. It does takes some while before interesting stuff happens. Maybe speed that a bit up. But when things start to happen it was fun to take the pictures and choose the headlines.

VISUALS
Cute pixel-art / cute characters and the the camera view + zooming also worked nicely.

AUDIO
Audio music fitted the game well and the AI voice also. The laughing was sometimes a bit annoying but not so bad 😉

THEME
Theme was in it and also Halloween was checked.

Overall it was a solid jam entry 💪 (but keep the cautions in mind please)

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

I totally get what you mean. It is really a shame, it turned out to be that close to "We become what we behold" The initial idea was a 3 D first person cameraman simulator, actually. While brainstorming, I found it to be very hard given the short timeframe. So I decided to do it top down with a little cameraman who has to film interesting details, that didn't work that well, so I made it instead of filming people doing something, taking pictures of them. The cameraman was pretty fun to control, but it was hard to control him and make him able to take some decent pictures. So in the end I decided to remove him... probably an awful idea. I noticed the similarity to We become what we behold after the jam was over. I would have added more features, if I knew it was that similar.

Sorry for writing that much, but I thought everything just needed some clarification.

Again thanks for your feedback and time!

You're welcome and also thank you for the clarification 😊!
