Fantastic visuals, and I immediately recognized the artist from the last jam (Mecha Brawls). I haven't touched 3d yet, but it feels like extremely high-quality and complex work. However, just like in the previous jam, it feels like a huge mismatch between the visuals and the kind of game - the game mechanics/idea doesn't really leverage the cool visuals and to an extent - visuals distract from the puzzle nature of the game. I felt like I would enjoy it playing more as a simpler 2d or even clicker game - moving a 3d character and firing scripted magic felt rather irrelevant and excessive. I think with the level and kind of visuals, it would be much better to make a game that leverages VFX, not a puzzle. Or even if it is a puzzle - the VFX should be at its center rather than a side-effect.

That said - both VFX and the puzzle are quite good, and I enjoyed playing it! Sorry if I sound too critical - it just feels like a wasted opportunity due to a mismatch -  for both puzzle (which would be easier to play with simpler visuals) and visuals (which would shine in a game focused on atmosphere and/or VFX).

Hello Rakudajin,

thanks for kind words! I always enjoy seeing constructive critics.

I was the artist for Mecha Brawls, how ever this jam the art credits go to Glockenberg. I helped with game design, development, some vfx and some animating. The big part of development goes to Pete while the character was modelled by Nickelodeon.

I agree making 3D games is not so easy and you often get lost focusing on many technical aspects rather than game aspects. For me jams fulfill the purpose of fun and learning which I did this jam and constructive critics definitely help learning and improving so thanks for that! :)

Sorry for the wrong assumptions, didn't mean to do unfair judgement of who did what. It's just when I opened the game - I immediately thought "oh, this must be those guys from Mecha Brawl," so I checked the team and you were the one on both teams :)

But probably it's just because both this and previous jam - the game you participate in is the only game with high-quality hilgh-level 3d stuff :) It's very outstanding!

And yep, totally agree that jams are for fun and learning, so sorry again if I were too critical :)
