can we get something else besides Discord. So many are either dead or fighting within themselves. I also don't need to explain how this kind of no mod in private DM can lead to worse outcomes.

Wondrous news: our Discord server is neither dead nor fighting within itself!
Jokes aside, hosting in too many different spaces would be a bit difficult to manage and in complete honesty there just aren't many other platforms that enough people would be interested in aside from Discord to warrant hosting a space in them.
As a note, participation in the Discord server isn't required to participate in the jam! You're free to engage with the community here in the community tab, and if you're looking for a team we have other avenues such as the team finder or the itch community tab!
Well, I'm not really sure how to help you there. People will communicate how they choose, and DMs will be unmoderated regardless of platform.
If you're looking to reach out to people on a platform other than Discord, some people like communicating on Twitter, BlueSky, even email, etc -- so providing your account on one of these platforms when trying to team up with someone on a community post may help you out.
