Do I observe them by beating them to death…? I was killed while swimming and killed by several animals, but I couldn’t figure out if I had access to any mechanics besides chasing down the animals.
That is one method I guess. Step on the + square while an animal is in your ship to analyze it and gain one of its traits. Another thing you can do is (g)rab them.
