A Magical Girl Crashed Through My Roof So We Went On An Adventure (or something like that)

Got the finals of my intro cinematic done today, I think it's a smashing success. Working on a simple battle system now, nothing too special but enough to get the job done. The main thrust of the gameplay will be with its narrative, which I've been thinking a lot about. However, I'm also right in the middle of working on final year university coursework - including my dissertation. Hopefully something will be finished, even if it's not quite what I had planned. Also; need to find music! I'm planning to make some of it myself.

Either way, this'll be a game about two people going on an adventure. Discovering new things about themselves, and where they've ended up. Meanwhile, characters known as the 'Lost' are trying to prevent them from investigating the world further.

Nice intro! The premise seems like it could be pretty fun. Looking forward to what's next!

Thanks! Hopefully it'll live up to expectations, I don't think it'll be a long game but hopefully it'll be something that leaves people thinking a little after finishing it.

No worries, I hear you! Despite my game having 4 levels with 2 major bosses, and probably 100+ hours of work... it will likely be beatable in  minutes with a little practice. ;-;  So is the nature of a Game Jam Game, haha.

I love the intro and the premise of this game. Pretty ambitious with that other stuff going on and less than a week left in the jam but I'm excited to see what you come up with.

Yeah, just a little bit. Though that's what makes jam games so interesting, gotta find ways to get maximum value out of minimal systems. I wrote my own engine for a piece of coursework, and a server too. Using Unity is like a breath of fresh air compared to my own [buggy as heck] home-brew software. It's one of the reasons I chose to participate. Hopefully people will enjoy the finished game!

I love the duo idea. Can't wait to play it.

Sadly, it's not gonna be done in time. My coursework took priority over the game and it won't be finished by 12:00 tomorrow (my time). I'll continue working on it in my own time. Best of luck to everyone who submitted thus far, and those are just about to upload their own creations!

Is there a partially complete version you could upload? Or is it more in a state where some things are finished but isn't really playable?

At the time it was completely unplayable but I finished it this morning. It's still missing some sound effects but it's mostly complete.

Maybe the Jam creator will allow a late entry? Unless that's explicitly against the rules. But you've posted progress during the Jam, so I feel like they might cut you a little slack.  I can't speak for them so maybe ask them on the rules sticky!

Turns out that won't be needed. I got up early and finished it off, though I had to cut the battle system.

Congrats on making it in time!
