Other than the graphics and porting to other platforms I've thought quite allot over the last few days also. Unity really has allot of good features, but it's really not that easy to use. I spent some money on some stuff, but I can't get any of it to work out of the box. On the other hand I'm playing  my rpg and know that most of what I did really took months to finalise with the scripts and eventing. It's just a massive shame that it will be locked to Windows only.

I've decided I'm just going to get the story finished. If I work on the graphics or new features even more then I'll be way behind on what I would like to do. I could just try porting the game if there's any success in the project and recreate it in a new engine. I'll still try using Unity too, it's just on another level to do the simple stuff I've taken for granted with RPG Maker.

Firm respect for those who use the engine for game making.

I'm sorry you find yourself with the bad feel that your game will get stuck to the Windows OS, but as others told you, trying to reconvert to a complete new and different engine is actually having to remake the game. I checked your game page and trailer and I must say that I find it very detailed: you have story, characters, maps, sprites and art, music, script events, ...

I tried years ago to play with RPGMaker2003 (it was 2004... yep, some years ago), and at least I remember how easy was to start prototyping (making characters, set them a few lines of dialog, a few maps...). But yes, on Unity you have to make a good bunch of tools and stuff by yourself first.

RPGMaker MV allows you to convert the project to MacOS, Linux, Android,...

But you are using RPGMAker VX Ace,

No idea if you tried this already, but I thought that, maybe, if everything goes well, that could help you achieve to publish your game in more platforms.

Thank you for taking a look at the game and offering some further advice. I feel it's just more important to just get the project finished. I've weighed the options after playing through the story, and well, this is a bit of different sort of game. No matter how much I've added features it's only really held the game back because the story is the key. If I get the chance because people enjoy the game enough, then I'll rip it to another game engine. It's just going to be a leap of faith re-doing and porting everything.
