I've never played Nurikabe before, so this was a fun and fresh experience. I think I understood how it works and how to approach the problem. It reminds me a bit of sudoku, in terms of the kind of mental gymnastics you have to perform to exclude certain possibilities. The art is cute. The UFO aesthetics added to my enjoyment and made me think of Beventlaed since my brain is condition that way.

 The music is nice and fitting for a game that requires some mental calculations.

The Linux version appears to be an OS X version.

Yes, it's kind of like a minesweeper/sudoku hybrid with a silly name. What's not to like? Thanks for the review! And for pointing out the mislabeled build (I saw a penguin and I thought "that's the Mac icon!", doh)
